Tinting car windows on your own, can be a disaster waiting to happen, selecting the best shade, brand, and even just aligning it with the window and applying it, can be problematic! Driving your car to have the tint applied locally can often be a real burden too, having to take the time off work, or losing your vehicle for several hours while you wait for it to be completed, is often not possible.
At Vision Tints we are completely mobile, and can cover the whole of Devon and a little of Cornwall including Moorhaven Village and nearby towns. So we can visit your home or place of work, saving you time or valuable holiday days. We guarantee our work for a lifetime for your peace of mind, and we are completely insured for every tinting job we do.
We also offer tinted sun strips, headlight tints and chome deleting.
Our process
- You book an appropriate appointment time and a location convenient to you.
- Our uniformed staff will arrive, only needing access to a power point.
- We then clean the vehicle windows with 100% pure water to remove any dirt or invisible debris previous to tinting them.
- We may need to detach the door cards to access the complete window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- After the windows have been tinted, we ask that you don’t use the windows for around 7 days to allow them to completely dry, this protects all the edges of the tint.
- We can then take payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.
Which window tint shade is right for you?
Choosing the best tint shade can be difficult. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Is the tint for the look & style of your car?
- Is it to look after children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Is it to conceal valuables out of sight?
Using your responses to the questions our trained specialists can help you to pick the correct shade. These are the three main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint offering protection from UV rays but giving total visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers a safeguard from UV rays, heat and does add a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most widely selected, it protects from UV rays, heat and provides absolute privacy.
Which car windows are we able to tint?
We’re regularly asked this question. Firstly, let’s explain how tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines the amount of light that is let through. So, a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.
The allowed legal limit on both the driver’s and the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Nearly all of cars produced today come with tinted windows that are almost at (or close to) the 70-75% maximum. Although to some this glass doesn’t look tinted, it really is.
If you choose to get your front window glass tinted this is the potential penalty (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning your vehicle being used on the UK road network until you remove the extra tint.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, another factor to consider is your car insurance. By unlawfully tinting the front windows of your car, you may nullify your insurance.
It’s also illegal to an illegally install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with large fines and penalties. Vision Tints is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy business that all customers rely on and because of this we choose not to disobey the law. So we choose not to tint front windows over the allowed limit.
We will use a tint meter to confirm your car’s windows are allowable when fitting tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tints do you use?
Not all window tints was created equal! The types of window tint available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This is often found be the least expensive tint on the market, it bubbles, fades, and normally goes a blue or purple colour eventually. Its really not great, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is damaged by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also disturb radio signals. This isn’t a good option, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Vision Tints, as it gives a great colour, its long lasting, does not get affected by heater lines & does not affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The most superior tint we can buy, offered as our premium service. It has the best longevity/colour, isn’t affected by heater lines, doesn’t affect radio signal and provides the best temperature/UV protection.
All that being said, not all window tint manufacturers offer the same, after many years of experience, we have selected what we think is best brand available, and even better, it is all manufactured in the UK, which means that when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK businesses.
