Our process
- You make a booking for an appropriate appointment time and place that suits you.
- Our uniformed crew will arrive, only needing access to power.
- We then clean the car windows with 100% pure water to clear away any dirt or microscopic debris before we tint them.
- We may need to detach the door cards to access the entirety of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- Once the windows have been tinted, we ask that you don’t use the windows for around a week so that they can completely dry, this preserves all the edges of the tint.
- We can then accept payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.
Which window tint shade is the right choice for your car?
Choosing the correct tint shade can be hard. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be for the look & style of your car?
- Is it to look after children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Is it keep valuables out of sight?
Using your answers to the questions our trained specialists are able to help you to select the right shade. Here are the three main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but giving total visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers a safeguard from heat, UV rays and does add some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most popular, it can safeguard from heat, UV rays and offers total privacy.
Which car windows can we tint?
We’re regularly asked this question. Firstly, let us explain how tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines how much of the light is allowed through. So, a 20% tint makes it possible for 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on each of the driver’s & the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the glass at the front must let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Nearly all of cars made today have tinted windows that are almost at (or close to) the 70-75% limit. Even though to some people it doesn’t seem to be tinted, it really is.
If you go ahead and get your front windows tinted this is the potential penalty (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the UK road network unless you remove the extra tint.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
In addition, another factor to think about is the insurance on your car. By unlawfully tinting your front windows, it’s possible to invalidate your insurance.
It’s also illegal to an illegally install tint to the front windows, with hefty fines and penalties. Vision Tints is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable company that all customers rely on and because of this we do not want to disobey the law. So we choose not to tint any front windows past the legal limit.

We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tints do you use?
Not all window tints meets our standards! The window tints available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This tends to be the cheapest product available to the market, it bubbles, fades, and normally goes a blue or purple colour eventually. It is quite poor, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is affected by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also disturb radio signals. This isn’t a premium tint, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Vision Tints, as it provides great colour, longevity, does not get affected by heater lines & doesn’t affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The best tint we can buy, offered as our premium service. It has great longevity/colour, is not affected by heater lines, won’t affect radio signal and provides the most temperature/UV protection.
Having said that, not all manufacturers of tint offer the same, after many years of experience, we have selected what we have found to be the best brand available, and even better, it’s manufactured in the UK, which means that when you hire our services you are actually supporting two UK companies.
