How it works
- You make a booking for an appropriate appointment time and place that suits you.
- Our uniformed staff will arrive, only needing access to a power point.
- We then clean the car windows with 100% filtered water to remove any dirt or invisible debris previous to tinting them.
- We could need to remove door cards to gain access to the entirety of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- After the windows have been tinted, we request you don’t use the windows for around a week so that they can dry fully, this protects the edge of the tint.
- We can then accept payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.
What window tint shade is right for your vehicle?
Choosing the best tint shade can be tricky. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be to make you car look great?
- Is it to shield children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Is it cover up valuables out of view?
Based on your responses to the questions our trained specialists are able to help you to select the right shade. Here are the 3 main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint offering protection from UV rays but allowing for complete visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is a factory tinted look, it offers protection from heat, UV rays and does add a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most widely selected, it protects from heat, UV rays and gives absolute privacy.
Which car windows can we tint?
We are often asked about this. Firstly, let us describe how tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is let through. So, a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.
The allowed legal limit on both the driver’s & the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the front windows have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Nearly all of vehicles the come from the factory today have tinted glass that is almost at (or close to) the 70-75% limit. Even though to some it doesn’t look tinted, in actual fact it is.

- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning you using your vehicle on the UK road network until you remove the extra tint.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
In addition, something else to think about is the insurance on your car. By illegally tinting your front windows, it’s possible to nullify your insurance.
It is also illegal to an illegally install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with large penalties & fines. Vision Tints is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy business that all customers rely on and because of this we do not want to disobey the law. So we choose not to tint your front windows over the allowed limit.
We always use a tint meter to confirm you are allowable when fitting tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you use?
Not every window tint meets our standards! The window tints available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This tends to be the cheapest tint available to the market, it bubbles, fades, and will likely go a blue or purple colour eventually. Its really not great, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is affected by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also interrupt radio signals. This isn’t a premium tint, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Vision Tints, as it provides great colour, its long lasting, is not affected by heater lines and does not affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The greatest tint available, offered as our premium service. It has great longevity/colour, is not affected by heater lines, doesn’t affect radio signals and provides the best UV/temperature protection.
