How it works
- You book an appropriate appointment time and a location that suits you.
- Our uniformed staff will arrive, only requiring access to a power point.
- We then wash the car windows with 100% pure water to eliminate any dirt or unseen debris before we tint them.
- We might need to detach the door cards to access the complete window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- After the windows have been tinted, we believe its best that you don’t use the windows for at least a week so that they can completely dry, this protects the edge of the tint.
- We can then receive payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.
What window tint shade is right for your car?
Selecting the best tint shade can be tricky. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be for style and looks?
- Is it to look after children or animals from heat or UV rays?
- Do you want keep valuables out of sight?
Based on your responses to those questions our fully trained specialists are able to help you to select the correct shade. These are the three main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but giving total visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers a safeguard from UV rays, heat and does add a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most popular, it can safeguard from heat, UV rays and gives complete privacy.
Which car windows are we able to tint?
We’re often asked about this. Firstly, let’s describe the way tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines the amount of light that is allowed through. Therefore a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on both the driver’s and the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through. The vast majority of vehicles produced today have tinted windows that are almost at (or nearly) the 70-75% maximum. Even though to some this glass doesn’t seem to be tinted, in actual fact it is.

- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the road until you have the extra tint removed.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
In addition, something else to think about is your car insurance. By unlawfully tinting your front windows, you can nullify your insurance.
It’s also against the law to an illegally install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with large penalties & fines. Vision Tints is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy business that all clients rely on and as such we choose not to break the law. So we choose not to tint front windows past the legal limit.
We always test with a tint meter to ensure your car’s windows are correct when fitting any tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you use?
Not every window tint meets our standards! The window tints available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This tends to be the least expensive tint available to the market, it bubbles, fades, and will likely go a blue or purple colour in the end. It is quite poor, and we don’t recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is affected by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also interrupt radio signals. This is not first class, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard window tint. It is what we usually use at Vision Tints, as it provides great colour, its long lasting, is not affected by heater lines and doesn’t affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The finest tint on the market, provided as our premium service. It has great colour/longevity, the heater lines do not affect it, doesn’t affect radio and provides the most temperature/UV protection.
Having said that, not all window tint manufacturers offer the same, after many years in the industry, we have chosen what we believe is the best brand available, and what is more, it’s manufactured in Great Britain, meaning when you hire our services you are actually supporting two UK companies.
