Tinting car windows by yourself, is often a disaster waiting to happen, choosing the right brand, shade, and also just aligning it with the window and applying it, can be problematic! Our process
- You make a booking for an appropriate appointment time and place that suits you.
- Our uniformed team will arrive, only needing access to power.
- We then clean the car windows with 100% pure water to remove any dirt or microscopic debris before we tint them.
- We might need to detach the door cards to gain access to the entirety of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- When the windows have been tinted, we ask that you do not use the windows for around a week to allow them to completely dry, this protects all the edges of the tint.
- We’re then able to accept payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.
Which window tint shade is the right choice for your car?
Selecting the right tint shade can be hard. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be for the look & style of your car?
- Is it to look after children or animals from things like heat & UV rays?
- Is it to conceal valuables from sight?
Based on your answers to those questions our fully trained specialists are able to help you to choose the right shade. These are the three main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but allowing for complete visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers a safeguard from UV rays, heat & does add some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most commonly selected, it can safeguard from UV rays, heat and provides complete privacy.
Which car windows is it possible for us to tint?
We are often asked about this. To start with, let us explain the way tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines the amount of light that is allowed through. Therefore a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.
The allowed legal limit on each of the driver’s & the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the front windows have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. The vast majority of vehicles made today come with tinted glass that is almost at (or nearly) the 70-75% limit. Although to some people this glass doesn’t look tinted, in actual fact it is.
If you choose to have your front windows tinted the potential penalty will be (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping your vehicle being used on the UK road network unless you remove the extra tint.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
Also, something else to consider is the insurance on your car. By illegally tinting the front windows of your car, you can nullify your insurance.
It’s also illegal to an illegally install tint to the front windows, with heavy penalties & fines. Vision Tints is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable company that all customers rely on and as such we do not want to disobey the law. So we will not tint any front windows past the legal limit.
We will test with a tint meter to confirm you are correct when applying tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you install?
Not all window tints was created equal! The window tints available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This tends to be the least expensive tint available to the market, it fades, bubbles, and normally goes a blue or purple colour in the end. Its really not great, and we don’t recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is damaged by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also interrupt radio signals. This isn’t a premium tint, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard tint. It is what we usually use at Vision Tints, as it gives a great colour, longevity, is not affected by heater lines and does not affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The finest tint available, provided as our premium service. It provides the best longevity/colour, the heater lines do not affect it, will not affect radio reception and gives the best temperature/UV protection.
All that being said, not all manufacturers of tint are the same, after many years in the industry, we have chosen what we have found to be the best brand available, and what is more, it’s manufactured in the UK, meaning when you hire our services you’re supporting two UK businesses.
Do you provide mobile window tinting near me?
