How it works
- You book an appropriate appointment time and place that suits you.
- Our uniformed staff will arrive, only requiring access to a power point.
- We then clean the vehicle windows with 100% filtered water to clear away any dirt or invisible debris before we tint them.
- We may need to detach the door cards to gain access to the complete window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- After the windows are tinted, we request you do not use the windows for around 7 days so that they can completely dry, this preserves all the edges of the tint.
- We can then receive payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.
What window tint shade is right for you?
Selecting the right tint shade can be hard. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Is the tint to make you car look great?
- Is it to protect children or animals from heat or UV rays?
- Do you want keep valuables out of view?
Based on your responses to these questions our trained specialists are able to help you to select the right shade. These are the 3 main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint offering protection from UV rays but allowing for total visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers protection from heat, UV rays & does add some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most commonly selected, it provides a guard from UV rays, heat and gives total privacy.
Which car windows are we able to tint?
We’re regularly asked this question. To start with, let us describe the way tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines the amount of light that is allowed through. Therefore a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.
The allowed legal limit on each of the driver’s & the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the front windows have to let 70-75% of the light through. Nearly all of vehicles produced today come with tinted glass that is almost at (or close to) the 70-75% limit. Even though to some it doesn’t look tinted, it really is.
If you choose to get your front window glass tinted this is the potential penalty (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping your vehicle being used on the road unless you have the extra tint removed.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
In addition, something else to think about is the insurance on your car. By unlawfully tinting your front windows, it’s possible to invalidate your insurance.
It’s also illegal to an illegally install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with hefty penalties & fines. Vision Tints is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy business that all clients rely on and as such we choose not to break the law. So we choose not to tint any front windows beyond the allowed limit.
We will use a tint meter to ensure you are correct when installing tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you install?
Not every window tint meets our standards! The window tints available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This is often found be the least expensive product on the market, it bubbles, fades, and often goes a blue or purple colour eventually. It is quite poor, and we don’t recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also disturb radio signals. This is not a good option, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard tint. It is what we usually use at Vision Tints, as it gives a great colour, longevity, is not affected by heater lines & doesn’t affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The most superior tint we can buy, offered as our premium service. It provides the best longevity/colour, isn’t affected by heater lines, will not affect radio signals and provides the best UV/temperature protection.
All that being said, not all window tint manufacturers are the same, after many years of experience, we have selected what we think is best brand available, and what is more, it’s manufactured in the UK, meaning when you hire our services you’re supporting two UK companies.
