Tinting car windows on your own, is often a real hassle, choosing the right shade, brand, and even just aligning it with the window and applying it, can be problematic! Taking your car to have the tint applied at a local garage can be a hassle too, having to take time off work, or having no vehicle for several hours waiting for it to be completed, is often not possible.
At Vision Tints we are completely mobile, and we can cover the whole of the county of Devon and a little of Cornwall including Wembury and surrounding areas. So we can visit your workplace or home, saving you a lot of time or valuable holiday days. We offer a lifetime guarantee for your peace of mind, and we are fully insured for every tinting job we do.
We are able to provide tinted sun strips, car light tints and de-chroming.
How it works
- You book a time slot and place convenient to you.
- Our uniformed staff will arrive, only needing access to power.
- We then clean the vehicle windows with 100% pure water to clear away any dirt or invisible debris previous to tinting them.
- We could need to remove door cards to gain access to the complete window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- After the windows are tinted, we ask that you don’t use the windows for around a week to allow them to completely dry, this safeguards all the edges of the tint.
- We can then receive payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.
What window tint shade is the right choice for your car?
Choosing the best tint shade can be hard. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be to make you car look great?
- Is it to look after children or animals from things like heat & UV rays?
- Is it cover up valuables out of sight?
Using your responses to those questions our fully trained specialists are able to help you to pick the right shade. Here are the 3 main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but allowing for complete visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is a factory tinted look, it offers shelter from UV rays, heat & does add some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most commonly selected, it protects from UV rays, heat and provides total privacy.
Which car windows are we able to tint?
We are regularly asked this question. Firstly, let us explain the way tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines the amount of light that is let through. Therefore a 20% tint makes it possible for 20% of light to pass through.
The allowed legal limit on both the driver’s and the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the front windows must let 70-75% of the light through. Nearly all of cars the come from the factory today have tinted windows that are already at (or nearly) the 70-75% limit. Although to some this glass doesn’t seem to be tinted, it actually is.
If you choose to have your front windows tinted the potential penalty will be (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the UK road network unless you strip the tint from your vehicle.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
In addition, another factor to consider is the insurance on your car. By unlawfully tinting the front windows of your car, you may nullify your insurance.
It is also illegal to an illegally install tint to the front windows, with heavy fines and penalties. Vision Tints is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable business that all customers rely on and because of this we do not want to break the law. So we choose not to tint any front windows over the legal limit.
We test with a tint meter to confirm everything is correct when applying a tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you use?
Not every window tint was created equal! The types of window tint available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This is often found be the least expensive tint available to the market, it bubbles, fades, and often goes a blue or purple colour eventually. It is quite poor, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is regularly affected by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also disturb radio reception. This isn’t first class, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard window tint. We choose to use this at Vision Tints, as it provides great colour, longevity, is not affected by heater lines and doesn’t affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The most superior tint on the market, provided as our premium service. It provides the best colour/longevity, isn’t affected by heater lines, will not affect radio signal and provides the most temperature/UV protection.
All that being said, not all tint manufacturers offer the same, after many years of experience, we have chosen what we have found to be the best brand available, and even better, it is all manufactured in Great Britain, meaning when you hire our services you’re supporting two UK businesses.
