How it works
- You book an appropriate appointment time and place convenient to you.
- Our uniformed staff will arrive, only requiring access to a power point.
- We then clean the car windows with 100% pure water to clear away any dirt or invisible debris before we tint them.
- We may need to remove door cards to gain access to the workings of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- When the windows are tinted, we ask that you don’t use the windows for around a week to allow them to completely dry, this protects the edge of the tint.
- We can then accept payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.
What window tint shade is right for your car?
Choosing the correct tint shade can be difficult. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Is the tint for style and looks?
- Is it to protect children or animals from things like heat & UV rays?
- Is it to conceal valuables out of sight?
From your answers to the questions our fully trained specialists are able to help you to select the correct shade. These are the 3 main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but allowing for complete visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers a safeguard from heat, UV rays and also adds a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most widely selected, it provides a guard from UV rays, heat and gives complete privacy.
Which car windows is it possible for us to tint?
We’re often asked about this. To start with, let’s describe the way tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines the amount of light that is let through. Therefore a 20% tint allows 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on both the driver’s and the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the front windows must let 70-75% of the light through. Nearly all of cars produced today come with tinted windows that are already at (or close to) the 70-75% allowance. Although to some it doesn’t look tinted, in actual fact it is.

- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the UK road network unless you remove the extra tint.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, another factor to consider is your car insurance. By illegally tinting your front windows, it’s possible to invalidate your insurance.
It is also illegal to an illegally install tint to a cars front windows, with heavy fines and penalties. Vision Tints is a reliable, trustworthy & respected company that all clients rely on and because of this we choose not to disobey the law. So we decided to not tint any front windows beyond the allowed limit.
We always use a tint meter to ensure your car’s windows are legal when installing a tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you install?
Not all window tints meets our standards! The window tints available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This is often found be the cheapest tint on the market, it bubbles, fades, and will likely go a blue or purple colour in the end. It is quite poor, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is damaged by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also interrupt radio reception. This is not a good option, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard window tint. It is what we usually use at Vision Tints, as it gives a great colour, its long lasting, does not get affected by heater lines and doesn’t affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The greatest tint on the market, provided as our premium service. It provides great colour/longevity, is not affected by heater lines, doesn’t affect radio reception and provides the best UV/temperature protection.
Having said that, not all window tint manufacturers offer the same, after many years in the industry, we have chosen what we believe is the best brand available, and what is more, it is all manufactured in the UK, which means that when you hire our services you are actually supporting two UK businesses.
