What we do
- You make a booking for an appropriate appointment time and a location that suits you.
- Our uniformed personnel will arrive, only needing access to a power point.
- We then wash the vehicle windows with 100% filtered water to clear away any dirt or invisible debris previous to tinting them.
- We might need to detach the door cards to access the workings of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- Once the windows are tinted, we ask that you do not use the windows for at least 7 days so that they can dry fully, this safeguards all the edges of the tint.
- We can then receive payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.
Which window tint shade is the right choice for your vehicle?
Selecting the correct tint shade can be tricky. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Is the tint to make you car look great?
- Is it to shield children or animals from heat or UV rays?
- Do you want keep valuables from sight?
Based on your responses to those questions our trained professionals can help you to choose the right shade. Below are the 3 main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint offering protection from UV rays but allowing for complete visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers shelter from heat, UV rays and does add a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most popular, it protects from UV rays, heat and gives absolute privacy.
Which car windows are we able to tint?
We’re often asked about this. To start with, let us explain how tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is let through. Therefore a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.
The allowed legal limit on both the driver’s and the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through. Most of cars made today come with tinted windows that are almost at (or nearly) the 70-75% limit. Even though to some it doesn’t look tinted, it really is.
If you choose to have your front windows tinted the potential penalty will be (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning your vehicle being used on the road until you strip the tint from your vehicle.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
Also, something else to consider is your car insurance. By unlawfully tinting your front windows, it’s possible to nullify your insurance.
It is also against the law to an illegally install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with large penalties & fines. Vision Tints is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy company that all clients rely on and because of this we choose not to disobey the law. So we decided to not tint your front windows beyond the allowed limit.
We use a tint meter to ensure you are correct when applying any tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you use?
Not every window tint was created equal! The types of window tint available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This tends to be the least expensive product available to the market, it fades, bubbles, and will likely go a blue or purple colour in the end. It isn’t good quality, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also disturb radio reception. This is not first class, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard tint. It is what we usually use at Vision Tints, as it provides great colour, longevity, is not affected by heater lines and does not affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The best tint we can buy, offered as our premium service. It provides great colour/longevity, the heater lines do not affect it, won’t affect radio and provides the most UV/temperature protection.
Having said that, not all tint manufacturers offer the same, after many years in the industry, we have chosen what we have found to be the best brand available, and what is more, it is all manufactured in the UK, meaning when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK companies.
