Our process
- You make a booking for an appropriate appointment time and a location that suits you.
- Our uniformed team will arrive, only requiring access to a powered plug socket.
- We then clean the car windows with 100% filtered water to remove any dirt or unseen debris before we tint them.
- We may need to detach the door cards to access the complete window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- Once the windows are tinted, we believe its best that you do not use the windows for around a week so that they can completely dry, this protects all the edges of the tint.
- We are then able to receive payment by, card, bank transfer, or cash.
Which window tint shade is right for your car?
Choosing the best tint shade can be difficult. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be for style and looks?
- Is it to look after children or animals from things like heat & UV rays?

Light tint – This is a subtle tint offering protection from UV rays but allowing for complete visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers a safeguard from heat, UV rays & does add a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most widely selected, it provides a guard from UV rays, heat and gives total privacy.
Which car windows can we tint?
We are often asked about this. Firstly, let us explain the way tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines how much of the light is let through. Therefore a 20% tint makes it possible for 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on both the driver’s and the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the front windows must let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Nearly all of cars produced today have tinted windows that are already at (or nearly) the 70-75% limit. Although to some people this glass doesn’t look tinted, it actually is.
If you choose to get your front windows tinted this is the potential penalty (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the road until you strip the tint from your vehicle.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
Also, another factor to think about is your car insurance. By unlawfully tinting your front windows, you can invalidate your insurance.
It’s also illegal to an illegally install tint to a cars front windows, with hefty fines and penalties. Vision Tints is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable company that all customers rely on and as such we choose not to break the law. So we will not tint any front windows over the allowed limit.
We test with a tint meter to make sure everything is correct when applying any tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you install?
Not all window tints was created equal! The types of window tint available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This tends to be the least expensive product on the market, it bubbles, fades, and will likely go a blue or purple colour in the end. It is quite poor, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is damaged by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also disturb radio signals. This is not first class, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard window tint. We choose to use this at Vision Tints, as it gives a great colour, longevity, is not affected by heater lines and doesn’t affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The most superior tint on the market, provided as our premium service. It has the best colour/longevity, the heater lines do not affect it, does not affect radio signals and provides the most temperature/UV protection.
All that being said, not all tint manufacturers are the same, after many years in the industry, we have selected what we have found to be the best brand available, and what is more, it is all manufactured in the UK, which means that when you hire our services you’re supporting two UK businesses.
