Vision Tints mobile car window tinting in Totnes provides a complete car tinting service. Tinting your car windows by yourself, can often be a real pain, selecting the right brand, shade, and even just lining it up on the glass and applying it, can be problematic! Driving your vehicle to be tinted locally can often be a real burden too, needing to take time off work, or losing your car for many hours waiting for it to be completed, is often a big inconvenience.

At Vision Tints we are 100% mobile, and can cover all of the county of Devon and parts of Cornwall including Totnes and local areas. So we can visit your home or place of work, saving you time or precious holiday days. We offer a lifetime guarantee for your peace of mind, and we are fully insured for all the tinting work we do.

We can also offer tinted sun strips, car light tints and chome deleting.

How it works

  • You make a booking for a time slot and place convenient to you.
  • Our uniformed personnel will arrive, only requiring access to a powered plug socket.
  • We then clean the car windows with 100% filtered water to remove any dirt or unseen debris previous to tinting them.
  • We might need to detach the door cards to gain access to the entirety of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
  • After the windows are tinted, we request you don’t use the windows for at least a week so that they can completely dry, this safeguards the edge of the tint.
  • We’re then able to take payment by, card, bank transfer, or cash.

What window tint shade is the right choice for your car?

Choosing the best tint shade can be tricky. Here are some questions to ask yourself:

  1. Is the tint to make you car look great?
  2. Is it to shield children or animals from heat or UV rays?
  3. Is it keep valuables out of view?

From your responses to these questions our fully trained specialists are able to help you to choose the right shade. These are the three main shades available:

Light tintThis is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but giving full visibility even at night.

Medium tintThis is a factory tinted look, it offers shelter from heat, UV rays & also adds some privacy.

Blackout tint – This tint is our most widely selected, it provides a guard from heat, UV rays and provides total privacy.

Which car windows can we tint?

We are asked this question many times. To start with, let’s explain how tint is measured.

The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is let through. Therefore a 20% tint allows 20% of light to pass through.

The allowed legal limit on each of the driver’s and the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through. Nearly all of vehicles made today come with tinted glass that is already at (or nearly) the 70-75% limit. Although to some it doesn’t seem to be tinted, it actually is.

If you choose to get your front windows tinted this is the potential penalty (click this link for details):

  • A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping your vehicle being used on the UK road network unless you have the extra tint removed.
  • A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.

Also, another factor to consider is your car insurance. By illegally tinting the front windows of your car, it’s possible to nullify your insurance.

It’s also illegal to an illegally install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with hefty fines and penalties. Vision Tints is a reliable, trustworthy & respected business that all customers rely on and because of this we do not want to break the law. So we decided to not tint your front windows over the allowed limit.

We test with a tint meter to confirm your car’s windows are allowable when installing a tint on front windows.

We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.

What type of tint do you use?

Not every window tint was created equal! The types of window tint available are:

Dyed/Dipped Window

This tends to be the cheapest tint on the market, it fades, bubbles, and often goes a blue or purple colour eventually. It isn’t good quality, and we don’t recommend it.

Metalized

This tint is also often very cheap. It is regularly affected by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also disturb radio reception. This is not first class, and, won’t last.

Carbon or Charcoal

Premium industry-standard window tint. We choose to use this at Vision Tints, as it provides great colour, longevity, does not get affected by heater lines & doesn’t affect the radio reception.

Ceramic

The greatest tint available, offered as our premium service. It has great longevity/colour, is not affected by heater lines, won’t affect radio signal and provides the best UV/temperature protection.

All that being said, not all tint manufacturers offer the same, after many years in the industry, we have chosen what we think is best brand available, and what is more, it is manufactured in the UK, meaning when you choose our services you’re supporting two UK businesses.

Can you provide mobile window tinting near me?

Yes! We are fully mobile and offer mobile window tinting in Totnes and the whole of Devon and some of Cornwall.

We can visit your home or your workplace, meaning that you don’t have to be without your car and don’t have to wait around for hours for the job to be completed.
