Our process
- You make a booking for a time slot and place convenient to you.
- Our uniformed staff will arrive, only needing access to a power point.
- We then clean the vehicle windows with 100% filtered water to eliminate any dirt or microscopic debris before we tint them.
- We might need to remove door cards to gain access to the entirety of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- Once the windows are tinted, we ask that you do not use the windows for at least a week so that they can dry fully, this preserves all the edges of the tint.
- We can then take payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.
Which window tint shade is right for you?
Choosing the right tint shade can be tricky. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Is the tint to make you car look great?
- Is it to shield children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Is it keep valuables from sight?
From your responses to those questions our trained specialists can help you to select the right shade. Here are the three main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but allowing for full visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers a safeguard from heat, UV rays & does add some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most popular, it protects from heat, UV rays and offers total privacy.
Which car windows can we tint?
We’re regularly asked this question. To start with, let’s explain how tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines the amount of light that is allowed through. So, a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on each of the driver’s & the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the front windows must let 70-75% of the light through. Most of cars the come from the factory today have tinted glass that is already at (or nearly) the 70-75% allowance. Although to some this glass doesn’t look tinted, it actually is.
If you go ahead and get your front window glass tinted this is the potential penalty (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping your vehicle being used on the road until you remove the extra tint.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
In addition, another factor to think about is the insurance on your car. By unlawfully tinting the front windows of your car, it’s possible to nullify your insurance.
It is also against the law to an illegally install tint to the front windows, with hefty penalties & fines. Vision Tints is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy company that all customers rely on and as such we do not want to break the law. So we decided to not tint any front windows beyond the legal limit.
We will test with a tint meter to make sure everything is allowable when installing a tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you use?
Not every window tint was created equal! The window tints available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This is often found be the least expensive product on the market, it bubbles, fades, and often goes a blue or purple colour after a while. It is quite poor, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is affected by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also disturb radio reception. This isn’t a good option, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard window tint. It is what we usually use at Vision Tints, as it gives a great colour, longevity, is not affected by heater lines and doesn’t affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The finest tint we can buy, offered as our premium service. It provides great longevity/colour, the heater lines do not affect it, won’t affect radio and gives the most temperature/UV protection.
Having said that, not all manufacturers of tint are the same, after many years in the industry, we have selected what we think is best brand available, and what is more, it’s manufactured in Great Britain, which means that when you hire our services you’re supporting two UK businesses.
