Tinting car windows on your own, is often a real hassle, choosing the right shade, brand, and also just lining it up on the glass and applying it, can be a real pain! Taking your vehicle to be tinted locally can often be a hassle too, needing to take the time off work, or having no vehicle for many hours while you wait for it to be finished, is often a big inconvenience.
At Vision Tints we’re completely mobile, and can cover the whole of Devon and some of Cornwall including Ipplepen and surrounding areas. So we will come to your home or place of work, saving you a lot of time or valuable holiday days. We guarantee our work for a lifetime for your peace of mind, and we are fully insured for every tinting job we do.
We are able to offer tinted sun strips, light tints and de-chroming.
How it works
- You book a time slot and place convenient to you.
- Our uniformed staff will arrive, only needing access to a power point.
- We then clean the vehicle windows with 100% filtered water to remove any dirt or unseen debris previous to tinting them.
- We could need to detach the door cards to gain access to the entirety of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- After the windows have been tinted, we believe its best that you don’t use the windows for at least 7 days to allow them to completely dry, this protects the edge of the tint.
- We’re then able to take payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.
What window tint shade is the right choice for your vehicle?
Selecting the correct tint shade can be hard. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be for style and looks?
- Is it to look after children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Do you want cover up valuables from sight?
Based on your responses to those questions our trained specialists can help you to choose the right shade. These are the 3 main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but allowing for full visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is a factory tinted look, it offers a safeguard from heat, UV rays & also adds some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most widely selected, it protects from heat, UV rays and gives total privacy.
Which car windows are we able to tint?
We’re often asked about this. To start with, let us explain the way tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is allowed through. So, a 20% tint makes it possible for 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on each of the driver’s & the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the front windows have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. The vast majority of vehicles the come from the factory today have tinted glass that is almost at (or nearly) the 70-75% limit. Although to some it doesn’t look tinted, it really is.
If you go ahead and get your front window glass tinted this is the potential penalty (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the UK road network unless you remove the extra tint.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
In addition, something else to think about is your car insurance. By unlawfully tinting your front windows, it’s possible to invalidate your insurance.
It’s also against the law to an illegally install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with heavy penalties & fines. Vision Tints is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy business that all clients rely on and as such we do not want to disobey the law. So we choose not to tint your front windows over the legal limit.
We always test with a tint meter to make sure you are correct when applying tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tints do you install?
Not every window tint meets our standards! The window tints available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This tends to be the cheapest tint available to the market, it bubbles, fades, and normally goes a blue or purple colour eventually. It isn’t good quality, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is regularly affected by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also disturb radio reception. This isn’t a good option, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard tint. It is what we usually use at Vision Tints, as it gives a great colour, its long lasting, does not get affected by heater lines and doesn’t affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The best tint we can buy, offered as our premium service. It provides the best longevity/colour, the heater lines do not affect it, doesn’t affect radio signals and gives the best temperature/UV protection.
Having said that, not all window tint manufacturers offer the same, after many years of experience, we have chosen what we think is best brand available, and what is more, it is all manufactured in the UK, meaning when you choose our services you’re supporting two UK companies.
