- We might need to remove door cards to gain access to the entirety of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- When the windows are tinted, we request you do not use the windows for around a week to allow them to dry fully, this protects the edge of the tint.

What window tint shade is the right choice for your car?
Choosing the right tint shade can be difficult. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Is the tint to make you car look great?
- Is it to look after children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Do you want cover up valuables out of sight?
From your answers to the questions our qualified specialists are able to help you to select the correct shade. These are the three main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but giving total visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers protection from heat, UV rays and also adds a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most popular, it can safeguard from UV rays, heat and provides absolute privacy.
Which car windows is it possible for us to tint?
We are often asked about this. To start with, let’s describe how tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is let through. So, a 20% tint allows 20% of light to pass through.
The allowed legal limit on each of the driver’s & the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the front windows have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Most of vehicles the come from the factory today come with tinted glass that is almost at (or nearly) the 70-75% allowance. Although to some it doesn’t look tinted, it actually is.
If you choose to have your front windows tinted your penalties range from (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the road until you remove the extra tint.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
In addition, something else to think about is the insurance on your car. By illegally tinting your front windows, it’s possible to invalidate your insurance.
It is also illegal to an illegally install tint to the front windows, with large penalties & fines. Vision Tints is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable business that all customers rely on and as such we do not want to break the law. So we decided to not tint any front windows past the legal limit.
We will use a tint meter to ensure you are correct when installing tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you install?
Not every window tint was created equal! The window tints available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This tends to be the cheapest tint on the market, it fades, bubbles, and often goes a blue or purple colour after a while. It is quite poor, and we don’t recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is affected by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also interrupt radio signals. This isn’t a premium tint, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard tint. It is what we usually use at Vision Tints, as it gives a great colour, longevity, is not affected by heater lines & doesn’t affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The most superior tint available, offered as our premium service. It has the best longevity/colour, is not affected by heater lines, does not affect radio signals and provides the most temperature/UV protection.
All that being said, not all tint manufacturers offer the same, after many years in the industry, we have selected what we think is best brand available, and what is more, it is all manufactured in the UK, meaning when you hire our services you’re supporting two UK businesses.
