Our process
- You book a time slot and a location that suits you.
- Our uniformed team will arrive, only needing access to power.
- We then clean the vehicle windows with 100% pure water to clear away any dirt or microscopic debris before we tint them.
- We may need to remove door cards to access the complete window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- Once the windows are tinted, we request you do not use the windows for at least a week to allow them to dry fully, this protects all the edges of the tint.
- We are then able to take payment by, card, bank transfer, or cash.
What window tint shade is the right choice for you?
Selecting the right tint shade can be tricky. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be for the look & style of your car?
- Is it to look after children or animals from heat or UV rays?
- Do you want cover up valuables from view?
Based on your responses to the questions our trained professionals can help you to pick the correct shade. Here are the 3 main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but giving total visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers shelter from UV rays, heat and also adds a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most commonly selected, it can safeguard from UV rays, heat and offers absolute privacy.
Which car windows can we tint?
We’re asked this question many times. Firstly, let’s describe how tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines how much of the light is allowed through. Therefore a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on each of the driver’s and the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the front windows have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Most of vehicles produced today come with tinted windows that are almost at (or close to) the 70-75% maximum. Although to some people it doesn’t look tinted, it really is.
If you go ahead and get your front window glass tinted this is the potential penalty (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping your vehicle being used on the UK road network unless you have the extra tint removed.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
Also, another factor to consider is your car insurance. By illegally tinting your front windows, you may invalidate your insurance.
It is also against the law to an illegally install tint to the front windows, with large fines and penalties. Vision Tints is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable company that all clients rely on and because of this we choose not to disobey the law. So we will not tint your front windows past the allowed limit.
We will use a tint meter to confirm you are allowable when fitting any tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tints do you use?
Not all window tints was created equal! The window tints available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This tends to be the least expensive product on the market, it bubbles, fades, and often goes a blue or purple colour in the end. Its really not great, and we don’t recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also disturb radio signals. This isn’t first class, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard tint. It is what we usually use at Vision Tints, as it gives a great colour, its long lasting, does not get affected by heater lines and doesn’t affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The best tint we can buy, provided as our premium service. It has the best longevity/colour, isn’t affected by heater lines, doesn’t affect radio and gives the most UV/temperature protection.
