What we do
- You make a booking for an appropriate appointment time and a location convenient to you.
- Our uniformed personnel will arrive, only needing access to a powered plug socket.
- We then clean the car windows with 100% pure water to clear away any dirt or invisible debris previous to tinting them.
- We may need to remove door cards to gain access to the entirety of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- When the windows have been tinted, we believe its best that you don’t use the windows for at least 7 days to allow them to completely dry, this safeguards the edge of the tint.
- We are then able to receive payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.
What window tint shade is the right choice for your car?
Choosing the right tint shade can be tricky. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Is the tint to make you car look great?
- Is it to protect children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Is it keep valuables out of view?
Based on your answers to those questions our fully trained professionals are able to help you to choose the correct shade. These are the three main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but allowing for complete visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers shelter from UV rays, heat & does add some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most popular, it protects from UV rays, heat and provides complete privacy.
Which car windows is it possible for us to tint?
We are regularly asked this question. To start with, let us describe the way tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines the amount of light that is allowed through. So, a 20% tint makes it possible for 20% of light to pass through.
The allowed legal limit on both the driver’s & the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the front windows have to let 70-75% of the light through. Nearly all of cars made today come with tinted glass that is almost at (or close to) the 70-75% allowance. Even though to some this glass doesn’t seem to be tinted, in actual fact it is.
If you choose to have your front windows tinted your penalties range from (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping your vehicle being used on the UK road network until you strip the tint from your vehicle.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
Also, something else to consider is the insurance on your car. By unlawfully tinting your front windows, you can nullify your insurance.
It is also illegal to an illegally install tint to the front windows, with hefty penalties & fines. Vision Tints is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy company that all customers rely on and because of this we do not want to break the law. So we decided to not tint your front windows past the legal limit.
We use a tint meter to confirm your car’s windows are legal when applying any tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tints do you install?
Not every window tint meets our standards! The window tints available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This tends to be the cheapest tint on the market, it bubbles, fades, and often goes a blue or purple colour after a while. It is quite poor, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also disturb radio reception. This is not a good option, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard window tint. It is what we usually use at Vision Tints, as it provides great colour, its long lasting, is not affected by heater lines and does not affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The finest tint available, offered as our premium service. It has great longevity/colour, the heater lines do not affect it, doesn’t affect radio signals and gives the most UV/temperature protection.
All that being said, not all tint manufacturers are the same, after many years in the industry, we have selected what we have found to be the best brand available, and what is more, it is manufactured in the UK, which means that when you hire our services you’re supporting two UK businesses.
