Tinting your car windows by yourself, can often be a real pain, selecting the right brand, shade, and also just aligning it with the window and applying it, can be problematic! Taking your car to be tinted locally can be a hassle too, needing to take some time off work, or losing your vehicle for several hours waiting for it to be completed, is often very inconvenient.
At Vision Tints we are completely mobile, and can cover all of Devon and a little of Cornwall including Moretonhampstead and local areas. So we can visit your workplace or home, saving you a lot of time or precious holiday days. We guarantee our work for a lifetime for your peace of mind, and we are completely insured for every tinting job we do.
We also provide tinted sun strips, light tints and chome deleting.
How it works
- You book a time slot and a location convenient to you.
- Our uniformed staff will arrive, only needing access to power.
- We then wash the car windows with 100% pure water to remove any dirt or invisible debris previous to tinting them.
- We could need to remove door cards to access the entirety of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- Once the windows have been tinted, we request you don’t use the windows for around 7 days to allow them to dry fully, this safeguards the edge of the tint.
- We are then able to accept payment by, card, bank transfer, or cash.
What window tint shade is right for you?
Selecting the correct tint shade can be tricky. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be to make you car look great?
- Is it to look after children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Do you want cover up valuables from view?
Based on your answers to these questions our qualified professionals are able to help you to select the right shade. These are the three main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but giving full visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers protection from UV rays, heat and does add some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most commonly selected, it can safeguard from heat, UV rays and offers complete privacy.
Which car windows can we tint?
We’re regularly asked this question. To start with, let us explain how tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is allowed through. So, a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on both the driver’s and the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the glass at the front must let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. The vast majority of vehicles produced today have tinted windows that are already at (or nearly) the 70-75% limit. Even though to some people this glass doesn’t look tinted, in actual fact it is.
If you choose to get your front windows tinted the potential penalty will be (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping your vehicle being used on the UK road network until you have the extra tint removed.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
In addition, something else to consider is the insurance on your car. By illegally tinting your front windows, you can invalidate your insurance.
It is also illegal to an illegally install tint to the front windows, with heavy penalties & fines. Vision Tints is a reliable, trustworthy & respected company that all customers rely on and because of this we do not want to break the law. So we decided to not tint front windows beyond the allowed limit.
We always test with a tint meter to ensure everything is allowable when fitting tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you use?
Not every window tint was created equal! The window tints available are:
This is often found be the least expensive product available to the market, it fades, bubbles, and normally goes a blue or purple colour eventually. It is quite poor, and we do not recommend it.
This tint is also cheap. It is damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also disturb radio signals. This is not first class, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard window tint. It is what we usually use at Vision Tints, as it gives a great colour, longevity, is not affected by heater lines and doesn’t affect the radio signals.
The most superior tint on the market, offered as our premium service. It provides the best longevity/colour, is not affected by heater lines, doesn’t affect radio signals and gives the best temperature/UV protection.
All that being said, not all manufacturers of tint offer the same, after many years of experience, we have chosen what we have found to be the best brand available, and what is more, it is manufactured in the UK, meaning when you hire our services you’re supporting two UK businesses.
