What we do
- You book an appropriate appointment time and a location convenient to you.
- Our uniformed crew will arrive, only needing access to a powered plug socket.
- We then wash the car windows with 100% filtered water to remove any dirt or invisible debris before we tint them.
- We may need to detach the door cards to access the complete window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- Once the windows have been tinted, we request you don’t use the windows for around a week so that they can dry fully, this preserves all the edges of the tint.
- We can then accept payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.
What window tint shade is right for your vehicle?
Choosing the right tint shade can be hard. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be for the look & style of your car?
- Is it to protect children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Is it to conceal valuables from view?
Using your answers to these questions our trained specialists are able to help you to choose the correct shade. These are the 3 main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but giving complete visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers protection from heat, UV rays and does add some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most commonly selected, it provides a guard from UV rays, heat and gives absolute privacy.
Which car windows can we tint?
We are often asked about this. Firstly, let us explain how tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is allowed through. Therefore a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.
The allowed legal limit on both the driver’s & the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Most of cars the come from the factory today come with tinted glass that is already at (or close to) the 70-75% limit. Although to some people it doesn’t look tinted, it really is.
If you choose to have your front windows tinted the potential penalty will be (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping your vehicle being used on the UK road network until you strip the tint from your vehicle.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
In addition, something else to consider is the insurance on your car. By unlawfully tinting the front windows of your car, you may nullify your insurance.
It is also illegal to an illegally install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with hefty penalties & fines. Vision Tints is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy business that all clients rely on and because of this we choose not to break the law. So we choose not to tint front windows beyond the allowed limit.
We use a tint meter to make sure your car’s windows are correct when applying any tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you use?
Not all window tints was created equal! The window tints available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This tends to be the cheapest tint on the market, it bubbles, fades, and often goes a blue or purple colour eventually. Its really not great, and we don’t recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is damaged by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also disturb radio signals. This isn’t first class, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Vision Tints, as it provides great colour, its long lasting, does not get affected by heater lines and doesn’t affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The finest tint on the market, provided as our premium service. It has the best colour/longevity, isn’t affected by heater lines, won’t affect radio signal and provides the best UV/temperature protection.
Having said that, not all manufacturers of tint offer the same, after many years of experience, we have chosen what we believe is the best brand available, and what is more, it is all manufactured in Great Britain, which means that when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK businesses.
