Tinting your car windows on your own, can be a real pain, choosing the right brand, shade, and also just lining it up on the glass and applying it, can be a real pain! Taking your car to be tinted at a local garage can often be a hassle too, having to take time off work, or having no car for several hours waiting for it to be completed, is often very inconvenient.
At Vision Tints we’re completely mobile, and we cover the whole of the county of Devon and a little of the county of Cornwall including Winkleigh and nearby towns. So we will come to your home or place of work, saving you a lot of time or precious holiday days. We guarantee our work for a lifetime for your peace of mind, and we are fully insured for every tinting job we do.
We also provide tinted sun strips, headlight tints and chome deleting.
How it works
- You make a booking for a time slot and a location convenient to you.
- Our uniformed staff will arrive, only needing access to a power point.
- We then wash the vehicle windows with 100% pure water to clear away any dirt or invisible debris before we tint them.
- We could need to remove door cards to access the entirety of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- After the windows are tinted, we ask that you don’t use the windows for around 7 days to allow them to dry fully, this preserves all the edges of the tint.
- We are then able to receive payment by, card, bank transfer, or cash.
What window tint shade is the right choice for your car?
Selecting the right tint shade can be tricky. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Is the tint to make you car look great?
- Is it to shield children or animals from things like heat & UV rays?
- Is it to conceal valuables from sight?
From your responses to those questions our qualified professionals are able to help you to choose the correct shade. Here are the three main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but allowing for total visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers protection from UV rays, heat and does add a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most commonly selected, it protects from heat, UV rays and gives absolute privacy.
Which car windows is it possible for us to tint?
We’re asked this question many times. Firstly, let’s explain how tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is let through. So, a 20% tint makes it possible for 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on both the driver’s & the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the glass at the front must let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. The vast majority of cars produced today have tinted glass that is already at (or nearly) the 70-75% maximum. Even though to some people it doesn’t look tinted, it actually is.
If you choose to get your front windows tinted your penalties range from (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning your vehicle being used on the UK road network unless you remove the extra tint.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
In addition, another factor to think about is the insurance on your car. By unlawfully tinting your front windows, you can nullify your insurance.
It’s also against the law to an illegally install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with heavy penalties & fines. Vision Tints is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable company that all customers rely on and because of this we do not want to break the law. So we decided to not tint any front windows beyond the allowed limit.
We test with a tint meter to ensure everything is legal when installing tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tints do you install?
Not every window tint was created equal! The window tints available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This is often found be the least expensive tint available to the market, it fades, bubbles, and normally goes a blue or purple colour in the end. It is quite poor, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also disturb radio reception. This is not a premium tint, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard window tint. It is what we usually use at Vision Tints, as it gives a great colour, its long lasting, is not affected by heater lines & doesn’t affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The most superior tint we can buy, provided as our premium service. It has great longevity/colour, isn’t affected by heater lines, does not affect radio signals and provides the best temperature/UV protection.
All that being said, not all window tint manufacturers are the same, after many years of experience, we have chosen what we have found to be the best brand available, and even better, it is all manufactured in Great Britain, meaning when you hire our services you are actually supporting two UK companies.
Do you provide mobile window tinting near me?

We can come to where you live or your workplace, which means that you don’t have to loose your car and don’t have to wait around for several hours for the job to be done.
