How it works
- You make a booking for a time slot and a location convenient to you.
- Our uniformed personnel will arrive, only requiring access to power.
- We then wash the car windows with 100% filtered water to remove any dirt or microscopic debris before we tint them.
- We might need to detach the door cards to access the entirety of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- After the windows have been tinted, we believe its best that you do not use the windows for at least 7 days so that they can dry fully, this protects the edge of the tint.
- We are then able to accept payment by, card, bank transfer, or cash.
What window tint shade is right for you?
Selecting the best tint shade can be difficult. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Is the tint to make you car look great?
- Is it to shield children or animals from things like heat & UV rays?
- Do you want to conceal valuables from sight?
Based on your responses to these questions our qualified professionals are able to help you to pick the right shade. These are the 3 main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint offering protection from UV rays but allowing for full visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers shelter from UV rays, heat and does add some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most commonly selected, it protects from heat, UV rays and gives absolute privacy.
Which car windows can we tint?
We are often asked about this. Firstly, let’s explain how tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is allowed through. Therefore a 20% tint allows 20% of light to pass through.
The allowed legal limit on both the driver’s and the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the glass at the front must let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Nearly all of cars made today have tinted glass that is already at (or nearly) the 70-75% limit. Although to some people this glass doesn’t look tinted, it really is.
If you choose to have your front window glass tinted your penalties range from (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning your vehicle being used on the UK road network unless you strip the tint from your vehicle.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
In addition, something else to consider is your car insurance. By unlawfully tinting your front windows, it’s possible to invalidate your insurance.
It is also illegal to an illegally install tint to a cars front windows, with large fines and penalties. Vision Tints is a reliable, trustworthy & respected business that all clients rely on and because of this we choose not to disobey the law. So we decided to not tint front windows over the allowed limit.
We always use a tint meter to make sure your car’s windows are correct when fitting any tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you use?
Not every window tint was created equal! The window tints available are:
This is often found be the cheapest tint on the market, it fades, bubbles, and will likely go a blue or purple colour after a while. Its really not great, and we don’t recommend it.
This tint is also often very cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also disturb radio reception. This is not a good option, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard tint. It is what we usually use at Vision Tints, as it provides great colour, its long lasting, is not affected by heater lines & doesn’t affect the radio signals.
The finest tint money can buy, offered as our premium service. It has great longevity/colour, the heater lines do not affect it, does not affect radio reception and gives the most temperature/UV protection.
Having said that, not all manufacturers of tint are the same, after many years of experience, we have chosen what we have found to be the best brand available, and even better, it’s manufactured in Great Britain, meaning when you hire our services you’re supporting two UK businesses.
