Tinting car windows by yourself, is often a disaster waiting to happen, selecting the best brand, shade, and also just lining it up on the glass and applying it, can be very difficult! Taking your car to be tinted locally can be a real burden as well, having to take some time off work, or having no car for several hours waiting for it to be completed, is often very inconvenient.

We are able to provide tinted sun strips, light tints and chrome removal.
How it works
- You make a booking for a time slot and place convenient to you.
- Our uniformed team will arrive, only needing access to a power point.
- We then clean the car windows with 100% filtered water to eliminate any dirt or unseen debris previous to tinting them.
- We might need to remove door cards to gain access to the workings of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- Once the windows have been tinted, we ask that you do not use the windows for around 7 days so that they can dry fully, this protects all the edges of the tint.
- We can then receive payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.
Which window tint shade is right for you?
Choosing the correct tint shade can be hard. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be for style and looks?
- Is it to protect children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Is it cover up valuables out of view?
Based on your answers to the questions our trained specialists can help you to choose the right shade. Here are the three main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but allowing for total visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers protection from UV rays, heat and also adds some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most popular, it can safeguard from heat, UV rays and gives complete privacy.
Which car windows are we able to tint?
We are often asked about this. To start with, let us describe the way tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines the amount of light that is let through. Therefore a 20% tint makes it possible for 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on each of the driver’s & the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the front windows must let 70-75% of the light through. Most of cars the come from the factory today have tinted glass that is already at (or nearly) the 70-75% maximum. Although to some this glass doesn’t seem to be tinted, in actual fact it is.
If you go ahead and get your front window glass tinted the potential penalty will be (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning you using your vehicle on the UK road network until you strip the tint from your vehicle.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
In addition, another factor to think about is your car insurance. By unlawfully tinting the front windows of your car, it’s possible to nullify your insurance.
It’s also illegal to an illegally install tint to a cars front windows, with large penalties & fines. Vision Tints is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy company that all clients rely on and because of this we choose not to disobey the law. So we choose not to tint any front windows beyond the allowed limit.
We always test with a tint meter to make sure your car’s windows are allowable when fitting a tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tints do you install?
Not all window tints meets our standards! The window tints available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This is often found be the cheapest tint available to the market, it bubbles, fades, and normally goes a blue or purple colour after a while. It is quite poor, and we don’t recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also interrupt radio reception. This is not a good option, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard tint. It is what we usually use at Vision Tints, as it provides great colour, longevity, is not affected by heater lines and doesn’t affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The best tint money can buy, provided as our premium service. It has the best colour/longevity, is not affected by heater lines, will not affect radio and provides the most temperature/UV protection.
Having said that, not all manufacturers of tint are the same, after many years in the industry, we have chosen what we have found to be the best brand available, and even better, it is all manufactured in Great Britain, which means that when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK companies.
