How it works
- You make a booking for an appropriate appointment time and a location that suits you.
- Our uniformed staff will arrive, only requiring access to power.
- We then wash the car windows with 100% pure water to eliminate any dirt or unseen debris previous to tinting them.
- We might need to detach the door cards to gain access to the complete window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- When the windows are tinted, we ask that you don’t use the windows for around 7 days to allow them to dry fully, this preserves all the edges of the tint.
- We can then accept payment by, card, bank transfer, or cash.
What window tint shade is the right choice for your car?
Choosing the best tint shade can be tricky. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be for style and looks?
- Is it to look after children or animals from things like heat & UV rays?
- Do you want keep valuables out of sight?
Based on your responses to these questions our fully trained specialists can help you to pick the right shade. Below are the 3 main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint offering protection from UV rays but allowing for full visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is a factory tinted look, it offers shelter from heat, UV rays & does add some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most popular, it protects from heat, UV rays and offers absolute privacy.
Which car windows can we tint?
We’re regularly asked this question. Firstly, let’s describe the way tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is allowed through. So, a 20% tint makes it possible for 20% of light to pass through.
The allowed legal limit on both the driver’s and the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the front windows must let 70-75% of the light through. Nearly all of cars the come from the factory today come with tinted glass that is almost at (or close to) the 70-75% limit. Even though to some this glass doesn’t look tinted, it really is.
If you go ahead and get your front window glass tinted the potential penalty will be (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning you using your vehicle on the road until you strip the tint from your vehicle.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
Also, another factor to think about is your car insurance. By illegally tinting your front windows, it’s possible to invalidate your insurance.
It’s also against the law to an illegally install tint to a cars front windows, with hefty fines and penalties. Vision Tints is a reliable, trustworthy & respected business that all clients rely on and as such we choose not to break the law. So we will not tint any front windows over the legal limit.
We test with a tint meter to confirm everything is allowable when applying tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you install?
Not every window tint meets our standards! The types of window tint available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This tends to be the cheapest tint available to the market, it fades, bubbles, and often goes a blue or purple colour eventually. It isn’t good quality, and we don’t recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also interrupt radio signals. This is not a premium tint, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Vision Tints, as it gives a great colour, longevity, is not affected by heater lines and doesn’t affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The most superior tint we can buy, offered as our premium service. It provides the best colour/longevity, is not affected by heater lines, won’t affect radio reception and gives the most UV/temperature protection.
Having said that, not all tint manufacturers are the same, after many years of experience, we have chosen what we think is best brand available, and even better, it’s manufactured in the UK, which means that when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK companies.
