Tinting car windows by yourself, can often be a real pain, selecting the right brand, shade, and also just aligning it with the window and applying it, can be a real pain! Taking your vehicle to have the tint applied at a local garage can be a hassle as well, needing to take the time off work, or having no vehicle for many hours while you wait for it to be completed, is often a big inconvenience.

What we do
- You book an appropriate appointment time and place that suits you.
- Our uniformed personnel will arrive, only requiring access to a powered plug socket.
- We then wash the car windows with 100% filtered water to remove any dirt or unseen debris before we tint them.
- We could need to remove door cards to access the workings of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- Once the windows have been tinted, we believe its best that you don’t use the windows for around a week to allow them to completely dry, this protects the edge of the tint.
- We’re then able to accept payment by, card, bank transfer, or cash.
Which window tint shade is the right choice for your vehicle?
Selecting the right tint shade can be hard. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be for style and looks?
- Is it to protect children or animals from things like heat & UV rays?
- Do you want cover up valuables from sight?
From your answers to these questions our trained professionals can help you to select the correct shade. These are the 3 main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint offering protection from UV rays but giving complete visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is a factory tinted look, it offers a safeguard from heat, UV rays and does add some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most popular, it protects from heat, UV rays and provides complete privacy.
Which car windows can we tint?
We are often asked about this. Firstly, let us describe how tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines the amount of light that is allowed through. Therefore a 20% tint allows 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on both the driver’s & the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the front windows must let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Most of cars the come from the factory today have tinted glass that is almost at (or nearly) the 70-75% limit. Even though to some this glass doesn’t look tinted, it really is.
If you go ahead and have your front windows tinted your penalties range from (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning your vehicle being used on the UK road network unless you have the extra tint removed.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
In addition, something else to consider is your car insurance. By unlawfully tinting your front windows, you can nullify your insurance.
It is also against the law to an illegally install tint to the front windows, with large penalties & fines. Vision Tints is a reliable, trustworthy & respected business that all clients rely on and because of this we do not want to disobey the law. So we choose not to tint front windows past the allowed limit.
We use a tint meter to confirm everything is legal when fitting tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tints do you use?
Not every window tint was created equal! The window tints available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This is often found be the cheapest tint available to the market, it bubbles, fades, and will likely go a blue or purple colour in the end. Its really not great, and we don’t recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also interrupt radio reception. This is not a premium tint, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard window tint. It is what we usually use at Vision Tints, as it gives a great colour, longevity, does not get affected by heater lines & doesn’t affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The most superior tint money can buy, offered as our premium service. It provides the best longevity/colour, the heater lines do not affect it, won’t affect radio signal and provides the best temperature/UV protection.
All that being said, not all tint manufacturers offer the same, after many years of experience, we have chosen what we think is best brand available, and what is more, it’s manufactured in Great Britain, meaning when you hire our services you’re supporting two UK businesses.
