Tinting car windows by yourself, can be a real pain, choosing the right shade, brand, and also just lining it up on the glass and applying it, can be a real pain! Taking your car to have the tint applied at a local garage can be a real burden as well, needing to take time off work, or losing your vehicle for several hours waiting for it to be completed, is often a big inconvenience.
At Vision Tints we are completely mobile, and we can cover the whole of Devon and parts of Cornwall including Luton and local areas. So we can visit your workplace or home, saving you time or precious holiday days. We offer a lifetime guarantee for your peace of mind, and we are fully insured for every tinting job we do.
We can also offer tinted sun strips, headlight tints and de-chroming.
What we do
- You book a time slot and a location convenient to you.
- Our uniformed crew will arrive, only requiring access to power.
- We then wash the vehicle windows with 100% pure water to remove any dirt or invisible debris previous to tinting them.
- We might need to detach the door cards to access the workings of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- Once the windows have been tinted, we believe its best that you do not use the windows for around 7 days so that they can completely dry, this preserves all the edges of the tint.
- We are then able to accept payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.
What window tint shade is the right choice for your vehicle?
Choosing the right tint shade can be hard. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Is the tint to make you car look great?
- Is it to look after children or animals from things like heat & UV rays?
- Is it to conceal valuables out of sight?
From your responses to these questions our trained professionals can help you to pick the right shade. Here are the three main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint offering protection from UV rays but giving full visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers a safeguard from heat, UV rays and does add a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most popular, it can safeguard from UV rays, heat and gives complete privacy.
Which car windows is it possible for us to tint?
We’re asked this question many times. To start with, let us explain how tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is let through. So, a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.
The allowed legal limit on each of the driver’s and the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through. Most of cars made today have tinted glass that is already at (or nearly) the 70-75% allowance. Even though to some it doesn’t look tinted, in actual fact it is.
If you choose to have your front window glass tinted the potential penalty will be (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning your vehicle being used on the UK road network unless you have the extra tint removed.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
In addition, another factor to consider is your car insurance. By unlawfully tinting your front windows, you may invalidate your insurance.
It’s also against the law to an illegally install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with large penalties & fines. Vision Tints is a reliable, trustworthy & respected company that all clients rely on and as such we do not want to break the law. So we choose not to tint front windows past the allowed limit.
We use a tint meter to confirm you are correct when applying tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you install?
Not all window tints was created equal! The window tints available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This is often found be the cheapest tint on the market, it bubbles, fades, and often goes a blue or purple colour eventually. It is quite poor, and we don’t recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also interrupt radio signals. This isn’t a good option, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard window tint. It is what we usually use at Vision Tints, as it gives a great colour, its long lasting, is not affected by heater lines and doesn’t affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The greatest tint on the market, offered as our premium service. It has great longevity/colour, isn’t affected by heater lines, doesn’t affect radio signal and provides the best temperature/UV protection.
All that being said, not all tint manufacturers are the same, after many years of experience, we have selected what we have found to be the best brand available, and even better, it is all manufactured in the UK, meaning when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK companies.
