Our process
- You book an appropriate appointment time and a location that suits you.
- Our uniformed team will arrive, only needing access to a powered plug socket.
- We then clean the vehicle windows with 100% filtered water to clear away any dirt or microscopic debris previous to tinting them.
- We could need to detach the door cards to access the entirety of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- When the windows are tinted, we believe its best that you don’t use the windows for at least 7 days so that they can dry fully, this preserves all the edges of the tint.
- We’re then able to accept payment by, card, bank transfer, or cash.
Which window tint shade is right for your vehicle?
Choosing the best tint shade can be difficult. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be to make you car look great?
- Is it to protect children or animals from heat or UV rays?
- Is it keep valuables out of sight?
Based on your answers to these questions our fully trained professionals can help you to pick the correct shade. Here are the three main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint offering protection from UV rays but giving complete visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers protection from heat, UV rays and also adds a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most commonly selected, it provides a guard from UV rays, heat and gives complete privacy.
Which car windows are we able to tint?
We are often asked about this. Firstly, let us describe the way tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is allowed through. Therefore a 20% tint allows 20% of light to pass through.
The allowed legal limit on both the driver’s & the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the front windows must let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Nearly all of cars the come from the factory today have tinted glass that is almost at (or nearly) the 70-75% allowance. Although to some this glass doesn’t seem to be tinted, it really is.
If you go ahead and get your front window glass tinted the potential penalty will be (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping your vehicle being used on the road until you have the extra tint removed.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
In addition, something else to think about is your car insurance. By unlawfully tinting your front windows, it’s possible to invalidate your insurance.
It is also against the law to an illegally install tint to a cars front windows, with heavy fines and penalties. Vision Tints is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy business that all clients rely on and as such we choose not to disobey the law. So we choose not to tint your front windows beyond the legal limit.
We always use a tint meter to make sure your car’s windows are legal when installing any tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tints do you install?
Not all window tints was created equal! The types of window tint available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This tends to be the cheapest tint available to the market, it fades, bubbles, and will likely go a blue or purple colour in the end. It is quite poor, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is regularly affected by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also disturb radio signals. This is not first class, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Vision Tints, as it provides great colour, its long lasting, does not get affected by heater lines and does not affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The best tint money can buy, offered as our premium service. It provides the best colour/longevity, the heater lines do not affect it, will not affect radio and provides the best UV/temperature protection.
All that being said, not all tint manufacturers are the same, after many years of experience, we have selected what we believe is the best brand available, and even better, it’s manufactured in Great Britain, which means that when you hire our services you are actually supporting two UK businesses.
