What we do
- You book a time slot and a location convenient to you.
- Our uniformed staff will arrive, only needing access to a power point.
- We then clean the car windows with 100% pure water to remove any dirt or unseen debris previous to tinting them.
- We might need to remove door cards to gain access to the entirety of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- When the windows have been tinted, we request you don’t use the windows for at least a week so that they can dry fully, this preserves the edge of the tint.
- We are then able to take payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.
What window tint shade is the right choice for your vehicle?
Choosing the correct tint shade can be difficult. Here are some questions to ask yourself:

Light tint – This is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but giving complete visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers shelter from UV rays, heat & also adds a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most popular, it can safeguard from UV rays, heat and provides total privacy.
Which car windows can we tint?
We’re regularly asked this question. To start with, let us describe how tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines the amount of light that is let through. So, a 20% tint allows 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on each of the driver’s and the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Nearly all of vehicles produced today have tinted glass that is already at (or close to) the 70-75% maximum. Even though to some this glass doesn’t seem to be tinted, it really is.
If you go ahead and have your front window glass tinted the potential penalty will be (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping your vehicle being used on the road unless you strip the tint from your vehicle.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, something else to think about is the insurance on your car. By illegally tinting your front windows, you can invalidate your insurance.
It is also illegal to an illegally install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with hefty fines and penalties. Vision Tints is a reliable, trustworthy & respected business that all clients rely on and as such we do not want to break the law. So we decided to not tint any front windows beyond the legal limit.
We always test with a tint meter to ensure your car’s windows are correct when fitting a tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you use?
Not every window tint was created equal! The window tints available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This is often found be the cheapest tint on the market, it fades, bubbles, and will likely go a blue or purple colour after a while. It is quite poor, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also interrupt radio reception. This isn’t a good option, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Vision Tints, as it provides great colour, longevity, is not affected by heater lines and doesn’t affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The greatest tint money can buy, offered as our premium service. It provides the best colour/longevity, is not affected by heater lines, does not affect radio and provides the most temperature/UV protection.
All that being said, not all window tint manufacturers are the same, after many years of experience, we have selected what we have found to be the best brand available, and what is more, it’s manufactured in Great Britain, meaning when you hire our services you are actually supporting two UK businesses.
