How it works
- You book an appropriate appointment time and place that suits you.
- Our uniformed staff will arrive, only needing access to a power point.
- We then wash the car windows with 100% filtered water to eliminate any dirt or invisible debris before we tint them.
- We might need to remove door cards to gain access to the workings of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- After the windows have been tinted, we ask that you don’t use the windows for at least 7 days so that they can dry fully, this protects all the edges of the tint.
- We are then able to take payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.
Which window tint shade is the right choice for you?
Selecting the right tint shade can be tricky. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Is the tint for the look & style of your car?
- Is it to protect children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Do you want to conceal valuables from view?
Using your answers to those questions our trained specialists can help you to select the correct shade. Here are the three main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but allowing for full visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers protection from UV rays, heat and does add some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most widely selected, it protects from UV rays, heat and offers total privacy.
Which car windows are we able to tint?
We’re often asked about this. Firstly, let’s describe the way tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines how much of the light is let through. So, a 20% tint makes it possible for 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on each of the driver’s and the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the front windows must let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Most of vehicles the come from the factory today have tinted glass that is already at (or nearly) the 70-75% limit. Although to some people it doesn’t look tinted, it actually is.
If you go ahead and have your front window glass tinted your penalties range from (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the UK road network unless you have the extra tint removed.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, something else to think about is your car insurance. By illegally tinting your front windows, you may invalidate your insurance.
It’s also illegal to an illegally install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with hefty fines and penalties. Vision Tints is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy company that all customers rely on and as such we do not want to disobey the law. So we decided to not tint any front windows beyond the legal limit.
We will use a tint meter to confirm your car’s windows are allowable when installing a tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tints do you install?
Not all window tints was created equal! The window tints available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This tends to be the cheapest product on the market, it bubbles, fades, and often goes a blue or purple colour eventually. It is quite poor, and we don’t recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is regularly affected by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also interrupt radio reception. This is not a good option, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard tint. It is what we usually use at Vision Tints, as it gives a great colour, longevity, is not affected by heater lines & does not affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The finest tint money can buy, offered as our premium service. It provides great longevity/colour, is not affected by heater lines, won’t affect radio signal and gives the most UV/temperature protection.
All that being said, not all window tint manufacturers offer the same, after many years in the industry, we have selected what we think is best brand available, and even better, it is manufactured in the UK, which means that when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK businesses.
