What we do
- You make a booking for a time slot and a location that suits you.
- Our uniformed staff will arrive, only needing access to a power point.
- We then wash the car windows with 100% filtered water to remove any dirt or unseen debris previous to tinting them.
- We might need to detach the door cards to access the entirety of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- After the windows are tinted, we believe its best that you do not use the windows for around a week so that they can dry fully, this safeguards the edge of the tint.
- We are then able to take payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.
Which window tint shade is the right choice for your vehicle?
Choosing the correct tint shade can be tricky. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Is the tint for the look & style of your car?
- Is it to look after children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Is it keep valuables out of view?
Using your responses to the questions our fully trained specialists are able to help you to select the right shade. Below are the three main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but allowing for total visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers a safeguard from heat, UV rays and also adds a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most widely selected, it provides a guard from UV rays, heat and provides total privacy.
Which car windows can we tint?
We’re asked this question many times. Firstly, let us describe how tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines the amount of light that is allowed through. Therefore a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on both the driver’s & the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the front windows must let 70-75% of the light through. Nearly all of cars produced today come with tinted windows that are already at (or nearly) the 70-75% maximum. Even though to some people this glass doesn’t look tinted, it really is.
If you go ahead and get your front window glass tinted your penalties range from (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning your vehicle being used on the road unless you remove the extra tint.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, another factor to think about is the insurance on your car. By unlawfully tinting your front windows, you may nullify your insurance.
It is also illegal to an illegally install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with large fines and penalties. Vision Tints is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy business that all customers rely on and because of this we do not want to break the law. So we decided to not tint any front windows beyond the allowed limit.
We will test with a tint meter to ensure you are legal when applying any tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you use?
Not every window tint meets our standards! The types of window tint available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This tends to be the least expensive tint on the market, it bubbles, fades, and normally goes a blue or purple colour after a while. It isn’t good quality, and we don’t recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is affected by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also disturb radio reception. This isn’t a premium tint, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Vision Tints, as it provides great colour, longevity, does not get affected by heater lines and does not affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The greatest tint we can buy, provided as our premium service. It provides great colour/longevity, is not affected by heater lines, will not affect radio signal and gives the best UV/temperature protection.
Having said that, not all window tint manufacturers are the same, after many years in the industry, we have selected what we think is best brand available, and even better, it is manufactured in the UK, meaning when you hire our services you are actually supporting two UK companies.
