Tinting car windows by yourself, can often be a real pain, choosing the right shade, brand, and even just aligning it with the window and applying it, can be problematic! Driving your vehicle to be tinted locally can often be a hassle as well, having to take the time off work, or losing your vehicle for many hours waiting for it to be finished, is often very inconvenient.
At Vision Tints we are 100% mobile, and we can cover the whole of the county of Devon and some of Cornwall including Bradninch and nearby towns. So we can visit your home or place of work, saving you a lot of time or valuable holiday days. We guarantee our work for a lifetime for your peace of mind, and we are fully insured for all the tinting work we do.
We are able to offer tinted sun strips, headlight tints and chrome removal.
How it works
- You make a booking for a time slot and place convenient to you.
- Our uniformed crew will arrive, only requiring access to power.
- We then wash the car windows with 100% filtered water to remove any dirt or unseen debris previous to tinting them.
- We might need to detach the door cards to gain access to the entirety of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- Once the windows are tinted, we request you don’t use the windows for around a week to allow them to completely dry, this protects the edge of the tint.
- We’re then able to receive payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.
Which window tint shade is right for you?
Choosing the correct tint shade can be hard. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Is the tint to make you car look great?
- Is it to shield children or animals from things like heat & UV rays?
- Do you want to conceal valuables from sight?
Using your answers to the questions our fully trained specialists can help you to select the correct shade. Here are the three main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but giving full visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is a factory tinted look, it offers shelter from UV rays, heat and does add some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most popular, it provides a guard from heat, UV rays and provides total privacy.
Which car windows are we able to tint?
We’re regularly asked this question. To start with, let’s describe the way tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines the amount of light that is allowed through. So, a 20% tint makes it possible for 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on both the driver’s and the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the front windows have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Nearly all of vehicles the come from the factory today come with tinted windows that are already at (or nearly) the 70-75% maximum. Although to some people this glass doesn’t look tinted, in actual fact it is.
If you go ahead and get your front windows tinted the potential penalty will be (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the UK road network unless you remove the extra tint.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
In addition, something else to consider is the insurance on your car. By illegally tinting the front windows of your car, it’s possible to nullify your insurance.
It is also against the law to an illegally install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with heavy penalties & fines. Vision Tints is a reliable, trustworthy & respected company that all clients rely on and as such we do not want to disobey the law. So we will not tint front windows beyond the legal limit.
We always use a tint meter to make sure everything is correct when fitting tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tints do you install?
Not all window tints meets our standards! The window tints available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This tends to be the least expensive product on the market, it bubbles, fades, and normally goes a blue or purple colour eventually. It isn’t good quality, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is regularly affected by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also interrupt radio signals. This is not a premium tint, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard window tint. It is what we usually use at Vision Tints, as it provides great colour, longevity, is not affected by heater lines and doesn’t affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The finest tint money can buy, provided as our premium service. It provides the best colour/longevity, the heater lines do not affect it, won’t affect radio reception and provides the best UV/temperature protection.
Having said that, not all window tint manufacturers offer the same, after many years of experience, we have chosen what we think is best brand available, and even better, it is manufactured in Great Britain, which means that when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK companies.
