What we do
- You book an appropriate appointment time and place convenient to you.
- Our uniformed staff will arrive, only requiring access to power.
- We then wash the vehicle windows with 100% pure water to remove any dirt or invisible debris before we tint them.
- We may need to remove door cards to gain access to the complete window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- After the windows have been tinted, we ask that you do not use the windows for around 7 days to allow them to dry fully, this preserves the edge of the tint.
- We’re then able to accept payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.
What window tint shade is the right choice for you?
Selecting the right tint shade can be hard. Here are some questions to ask yourself:

Light tint – This is a subtle tint offering protection from UV rays but giving total visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is how many cars come out of the factory, it offers shelter from heat, UV rays & also adds a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most widely selected, it can safeguard from UV rays, heat and provides absolute privacy.
Which car windows is it possible for us to tint?
We’re asked this question many times. Firstly, let us describe how tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines the amount of light that is allowed through. So, a 20% tint allows 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on both the driver’s & the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Most of cars produced today come with tinted windows that are already at (or nearly) the 70-75% maximum. Although to some it doesn’t seem to be tinted, in actual fact it is.
If you go ahead and have your front window glass tinted this is the potential penalty (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the UK road network unless you have the extra tint removed.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, another factor to consider is the insurance on your car. By unlawfully tinting your front windows, you may nullify your insurance.
It is also against the law to an illegally install tint to a cars front windows, with large penalties & fines. Vision Tints is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable company that all customers rely on and because of this we choose not to break the law. So we decided to not tint any front windows over the allowed limit.
We test with a tint meter to ensure everything is allowable when fitting any tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tints do you install?
Not every window tint was created equal! The window tints available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This is often found be the least expensive tint on the market, it fades, bubbles, and normally goes a blue or purple colour after a while. Its really not great, and we don’t recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is damaged by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also interrupt radio reception. This isn’t a good option, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard tint. It is what we usually use at Vision Tints, as it gives a great colour, its long lasting, is not affected by heater lines & doesn’t affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The best tint we can buy, offered as our premium service. It has the best longevity/colour, the heater lines do not affect it, won’t affect radio signal and provides the most temperature/UV protection.
