How it works
- You book a time slot and place convenient to you.
- Our uniformed crew will arrive, only requiring access to a powered plug socket.
- We then wash the car windows with 100% pure water to clear away any dirt or unseen debris previous to tinting them.
- We could need to detach the door cards to gain access to the workings of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- When the windows are tinted, we ask that you don’t use the windows for around a week so that they can dry fully, this protects the edge of the tint.
- We can then receive payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.
Which window tint shade is the right choice for your vehicle?
Choosing the right tint shade can be tricky. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Is the tint for the look & style of your car?
- Is it to look after children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Is it keep valuables out of sight?
From your responses to these questions our trained professionals can help you to select the correct shade. Below are the 3 main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but giving full visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is a factory tinted look, it offers protection from heat, UV rays and also adds some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most commonly selected, it can safeguard from heat, UV rays and provides total privacy.
Which car windows are we able to tint?
We are often asked about this. To start with, let us describe the way tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is let through. Therefore a 20% tint makes it possible for 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on each of the driver’s and the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the glass at the front must let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. The vast majority of vehicles produced today have tinted windows that are already at (or close to) the 70-75% allowance. Although to some people this glass doesn’t look tinted, it actually is.
If you go ahead and get your front windows tinted this is the potential penalty (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping your vehicle being used on the UK road network unless you strip the tint from your vehicle.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
Also, something else to think about is the insurance on your car. By illegally tinting your front windows, you can invalidate your insurance.
It’s also illegal to an illegally install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with large fines and penalties. Vision Tints is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy company that all clients rely on and as such we do not want to break the law. So we decided to not tint any front windows over the allowed limit.
We use a tint meter to ensure your car’s windows are allowable when fitting a tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you install?
Not all window tints was created equal! The window tints available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This is often found be the cheapest product available to the market, it fades, bubbles, and will likely go a blue or purple colour after a while. It isn’t good quality, and we don’t recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is regularly affected by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also interrupt radio signals. This is not a good option, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard window tint. We choose to use this at Vision Tints, as it gives a great colour, longevity, is not affected by heater lines & doesn’t affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The greatest tint money can buy, provided as our premium service. It provides great longevity/colour, isn’t affected by heater lines, doesn’t affect radio signals and gives the most temperature/UV protection.
Having said that, not all tint manufacturers offer the same, after many years in the industry, we have chosen what we think is best brand available, and what is more, it is manufactured in Great Britain, which means that when you hire our services you’re supporting two UK companies.
