Tinting car windows yourself, can be a real pain, selecting the best brand, shade, and even just lining it up on the glass and applying it, can be problematic! Taking your car to have the tint applied locally can often be a hassle too, needing to take some time off work, or losing your car for several hours waiting for it to be completed, is often very inconvenient.
At Vision Tints we are 100% mobile, and we can cover the whole of Devon and a little of the county of Cornwall including Plympton and local areas. So we will come to your workplace or home, saving you time or precious holiday days. We offer a lifetime guarantee for your peace of mind, and we are completely insured for every tinting job we do.
We also provide tinted sun strips, car light tints and chrome removal.
How it works
- You make a booking for an appropriate appointment time and a location that suits you.
- Our uniformed staff will arrive, only requiring access to a power point.
- We then wash the car windows with 100% filtered water to eliminate any dirt or microscopic debris before we tint them.
- We could need to remove door cards to gain access to the complete window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- Once the windows have been tinted, we ask that you do not use the windows for at least a week so that they can dry fully, this preserves all the edges of the tint.
- We’re then able to take payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.
What window tint shade is the right choice for your vehicle?
Choosing the right tint shade can be tricky. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be for style and looks?
- Is it to shield children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Do you want cover up valuables from sight?
From your answers to the questions our trained professionals can help you to select the correct shade. Here are the three main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but giving complete visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is a factory tinted look, it offers shelter from heat, UV rays & also adds some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most commonly selected, it provides a guard from UV rays, heat and provides complete privacy.
Which car windows can we tint?
We are often asked about this. Firstly, let’s explain the way tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is let through. Therefore a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on each of the driver’s and the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Most of vehicles made today have tinted windows that are already at (or nearly) the 70-75% allowance. Although to some this glass doesn’t look tinted, it really is.
If you choose to have your front window glass tinted the potential penalty will be (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the road unless you remove the extra tint.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
Also, something else to consider is your car insurance. By illegally tinting your front windows, it’s possible to nullify your insurance.
It’s also against the law to an illegally install tint to a cars front windows, with hefty penalties & fines. Vision Tints is a reliable, trustworthy & respected business that all customers rely on and because of this we do not want to break the law. So we decided to not tint any front windows over the legal limit.
We always test with a tint meter to ensure you are legal when fitting any tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you install?
Not all window tints meets our standards! The window tints available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This is often found be the least expensive tint on the market, it fades, bubbles, and normally goes a blue or purple colour after a while. Its really not great, and we don’t recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also disturb radio signals. This is not a premium tint, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard window tint. It is what we usually use at Vision Tints, as it gives a great colour, its long lasting, is not affected by heater lines & doesn’t affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The best tint on the market, provided as our premium service. It provides great longevity/colour, the heater lines do not affect it, will not affect radio and provides the best UV/temperature protection.
Having said that, not all manufacturers of tint are the same, after many years in the industry, we have selected what we believe is the best brand available, and what is more, it’s manufactured in the UK, which means that when you hire our services you’re supporting two UK businesses.
