How it works
- You book an appropriate appointment time and place convenient to you.
- Our uniformed crew will arrive, only needing access to a powered plug socket.
- We then wash the vehicle windows with 100% filtered water to eliminate any dirt or unseen debris before we tint them.
- We could need to detach the door cards to access the complete window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- After the windows are tinted, we request you do not use the windows for around 7 days to allow them to completely dry, this preserves all the edges of the tint.
- We can then take payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.
What window tint shade is the right choice for your car?
Selecting the correct tint shade can be hard. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Is the tint for the look & style of your car?
- Is it to look after children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Is it cover up valuables out of view?
Using your responses to these questions our fully trained specialists are able to help you to select the right shade. Here are the three main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but allowing for total visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is a factory tinted look, it offers shelter from UV rays, heat & also adds a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most commonly selected, it provides a guard from heat, UV rays and gives complete privacy.
Which car windows can we tint?
We’re often asked about this. To start with, let’s explain how tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines the amount of light that is let through. So, a 20% tint permits 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on both the driver’s and the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the front windows have to let 70-75% of the light through. The vast majority of cars the come from the factory today come with tinted windows that are already at (or close to) the 70-75% maximum. Although to some this glass doesn’t look tinted, in actual fact it is.
If you go ahead and have your front window glass tinted the potential penalty will be (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning you using your vehicle on the UK road network unless you have the extra tint removed.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
In addition, another factor to think about is the insurance on your car. By unlawfully tinting the front windows of your car, you can nullify your insurance.
It is also illegal to an illegally install tint to a cars front windows, with heavy penalties & fines. Vision Tints is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable business that all clients rely on and because of this we do not want to break the law. So we choose not to tint your front windows beyond the allowed limit.
We use a tint meter to make sure your car’s windows are allowable when installing a tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tints do you use?
Not every window tint meets our standards! The types of window tint available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This tends to be the least expensive product available to the market, it fades, bubbles, and often goes a blue or purple colour after a while. It isn’t good quality, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also disturb radio signals. This is not a good option, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard window tint. It is what we usually use at Vision Tints, as it gives a great colour, its long lasting, is not affected by heater lines & does not affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The greatest tint available, provided as our premium service. It has great colour/longevity, is not affected by heater lines, will not affect radio signal and gives the most temperature/UV protection.
All that being said, not all manufacturers of tint offer the same, after many years of experience, we have chosen what we believe is the best brand available, and what is more, it is manufactured in the UK, which means that when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK companies.
