How it works
- You book a time slot and place convenient to you.
- Our uniformed staff will arrive, only requiring access to a powered plug socket.
- We then wash the car windows with 100% filtered water to eliminate any dirt or invisible debris before we tint them.
- We may need to remove door cards to access the workings of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- After the windows are tinted, we ask that you don’t use the windows for at least 7 days to allow them to completely dry, this protects all the edges of the tint.
- We are then able to take payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.
What window tint shade is the right choice for your vehicle?
Selecting the best tint shade can be difficult. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Is the tint for the look & style of your car?
- Is it to shield children or animals from heat or UV rays?
- Is it to conceal valuables from sight?
From your answers to these questions our fully trained professionals can help you to pick the right shade. Here are the three main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint offering protection from UV rays but allowing for complete visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers shelter from heat, UV rays and also adds a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most commonly selected, it provides a guard from UV rays, heat and provides absolute privacy.
Which car windows is it possible for us to tint?
We’re asked this question many times. To start with, let’s explain how tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines the amount of light that is let through. So, a 20% tint makes it possible for 20% of light to pass through.
The allowed legal limit on each of the driver’s & the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the front windows have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. The vast majority of cars the come from the factory today have tinted glass that is almost at (or close to) the 70-75% allowance. Although to some people this glass doesn’t seem to be tinted, it really is.
If you go ahead and have your front window glass tinted this is the potential penalty (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the UK road network unless you remove the extra tint.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, something else to consider is the insurance on your car. By illegally tinting your front windows, it’s possible to nullify your insurance.
It is also against the law to an illegally install tint to a cars front windows, with large fines and penalties. Vision Tints is a reliable, trustworthy & respected company that all clients rely on and because of this we choose not to break the law. So we will not tint any front windows past the allowed limit.
We will test with a tint meter to confirm your car’s windows are allowable when installing tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tints do you use?
Not all window tints meets our standards! The window tints available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This is often found be the least expensive product available to the market, it fades, bubbles, and often goes a blue or purple colour eventually. It isn’t good quality, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also interrupt radio reception. This is not a good option, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard tint. It is what we usually use at Vision Tints, as it gives a great colour, its long lasting, is not affected by heater lines & doesn’t affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The best tint on the market, provided as our premium service. It provides the best longevity/colour, isn’t affected by heater lines, will not affect radio and provides the best temperature/UV protection.
Having said that, not all manufacturers of tint offer the same, after many years in the industry, we have chosen what we believe is the best brand available, and what is more, it is all manufactured in Great Britain, which means that when you hire our services you are actually supporting two UK businesses.
