How it works
- You make a booking for an appropriate appointment time and a location convenient to you.
- Our uniformed personnel will arrive, only needing access to power.
- We then clean the vehicle windows with 100% filtered water to eliminate any dirt or microscopic debris previous to tinting them.
- We may need to detach the door cards to access the entirety of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- When the windows have been tinted, we request you don’t use the windows for at least a week to allow them to dry fully, this protects the edge of the tint.
- We are then able to receive payment by, card, bank transfer, or cash.
Which window tint shade is the right choice for your vehicle?
Choosing the correct tint shade can be difficult. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be for style and looks?
- Is it to protect children or animals from UV rays or heat?
- Is it keep valuables from sight?
From your answers to those questions our fully trained specialists can help you to select the right shade. These are the three main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but giving complete visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is a factory tinted look, it offers a safeguard from heat, UV rays and also adds some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most popular, it protects from heat, UV rays and offers total privacy.
Which car windows is it possible for us to tint?
We are often asked about this. Firstly, let’s describe how tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines the amount of light that is allowed through. So, a 20% tint makes it possible for 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on each of the driver’s and the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through. Nearly all of cars made today have tinted windows that are almost at (or nearly) the 70-75% limit. Although to some people it doesn’t seem to be tinted, it really is.
If you go ahead and have your front windows tinted this is the potential penalty (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping your vehicle being used on the UK road network unless you strip the tint from your vehicle.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
Also, something else to think about is the insurance on your car. By unlawfully tinting the front windows of your car, you can nullify your insurance.
It is also illegal to an illegally install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with heavy fines and penalties. Vision Tints is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy company that all clients rely on and because of this we choose not to disobey the law. So we decided to not tint any front windows past the allowed limit.
We always use a tint meter to confirm everything is allowable when fitting any tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tints do you use?
Not all window tints was created equal! The window tints available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This is often found be the least expensive product on the market, it fades, bubbles, and often goes a blue or purple colour in the end. It is quite poor, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is affected by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also interrupt radio signals. This isn’t a good option, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Vision Tints, as it provides great colour, its long lasting, does not get affected by heater lines & does not affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The most superior tint money can buy, provided as our premium service. It has the best colour/longevity, the heater lines do not affect it, does not affect radio signal and gives the best UV/temperature protection.
All that being said, not all tint manufacturers are the same, after many years in the industry, we have chosen what we think is best brand available, and what is more, it is manufactured in the UK, which means that when you choose our services you are actually supporting two UK businesses.
