How it works
- You make a booking for a time slot and a location convenient to you.
- Our uniformed crew will arrive, only requiring access to a powered plug socket.
- We then wash the car windows with 100% filtered water to clear away any dirt or microscopic debris before we tint them.
- We could need to remove door cards to gain access to the complete window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- When the windows are tinted, we ask that you don’t use the windows for around 7 days to allow them to dry fully, this protects the edge of the tint.
- We’re then able to take payment by, card, bank transfer, or cash.
Which window tint shade is the right choice for you?
Selecting the correct tint shade can be hard. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be to make you car look great?
- Is it to look after children or animals from heat or UV rays?
- Do you want to conceal valuables out of sight?
From your answers to the questions our trained specialists can help you to pick the right shade. Here are the 3 main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but allowing for total visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers protection from UV rays, heat and also adds a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most popular, it protects from UV rays, heat and offers total privacy.
Which car windows are we able to tint?
We’re regularly asked this question. To start with, let’s describe how tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is let through. So, a 20% tint allows 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on both the driver’s and the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the front windows have to let 70-75% of the light through. Most of vehicles made today have tinted windows that are already at (or nearly) the 70-75% allowance. Although to some it doesn’t look tinted, it really is.
If you go ahead and have your front window glass tinted your penalties range from (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning you using your vehicle on the road until you strip the tint from your vehicle.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
Also, something else to consider is the insurance on your car. By unlawfully tinting your front windows, you can invalidate your insurance.
It’s also against the law to an illegally install tint to the front windows, with hefty penalties & fines. Vision Tints is a respectable, reliable and trustworthy company that all clients rely on and because of this we do not want to break the law. So we choose not to tint front windows over the allowed limit.
We will test with a tint meter to make sure your car’s windows are correct when fitting any tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you use?
Not all window tints meets our standards! The window tints available are:
Dyed/Dipped Window
This tends to be the cheapest product on the market, it bubbles, fades, and often goes a blue or purple colour after a while. Its really not great, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also interrupt radio signals. This isn’t a premium tint, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Vision Tints, as it provides great colour, longevity, does not get affected by heater lines and does not affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The best tint money can buy, provided as our premium service. It has the best longevity/colour, isn’t affected by heater lines, doesn’t affect radio signal and gives the best temperature/UV protection.
All that being said, not all manufacturers of tint are the same, after many years of experience, we have chosen what we think is best brand available, and what is more, it is all manufactured in the UK, meaning when you choose our services you’re supporting two UK companies.
