Tinting car windows on your own, can often be a real pain, choosing the right shade, brand, and also just lining it up on the glass and applying it, can be problematic! Driving your car to have the tint applied locally can often be a real burden as well, needing to take some time off work, or having no car for many hours waiting for it to be completed, is often a big inconvenience.
At Vision Tints we are 100% mobile, and we cover the whole of Devon and some of Cornwall including Gunnislake and nearby towns. So we can visit your home or place of work, saving you a lot of time or valuable holiday days. We offer a lifetime guarantee for your peace of mind, and we are fully insured for every tinting job we do.
We can also offer tinted sun strips, car light tints and chrome removal.
What we do
- You make a booking for a time slot and a location convenient to you.
- Our uniformed crew will arrive, only requiring access to a powered plug socket.
- We then clean the car windows with 100% filtered water to clear away any dirt or invisible debris before we tint them.
- We may need to detach the door cards to gain access to the entirety of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- When the windows have been tinted, we request you don’t use the windows for around a week to allow them to dry fully, this protects all the edges of the tint.
- We are then able to receive payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.
What window tint shade is the right choice for your vehicle?
Selecting the right tint shade can be difficult. Here are some questions to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be for the look & style of your car?
- Is it to look after children or animals from heat or UV rays?
- Do you want to conceal valuables out of sight?
Based on your answers to these questions our fully trained professionals are able to help you to pick the correct shade. Below are the three main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but allowing for total visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is a factory tinted look, it offers protection from UV rays, heat and does add some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most commonly selected, it provides a guard from heat, UV rays and offers absolute privacy.
Which car windows can we tint?
We’re regularly asked this question. Firstly, let us explain how tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines the amount of light that is let through. Therefore a 20% tint makes it possible for 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on each of the driver’s and the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the front windows must let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. The vast majority of vehicles produced today have tinted windows that are already at (or close to) the 70-75% maximum. Although to some this glass doesn’t seem to be tinted, it actually is.
If you choose to get your front windows tinted the potential penalty will be (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping your vehicle being used on the road unless you have the extra tint removed.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
In addition, another factor to think about is the insurance on your car. By unlawfully tinting your front windows, you can invalidate your insurance.
It is also illegal to an illegally install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with heavy penalties & fines. Vision Tints is a trustworthy, respectable and reliable business that all customers rely on and as such we do not want to disobey the law. So we choose not to tint any front windows past the legal limit.
We use a tint meter to confirm your car’s windows are legal when fitting any tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you use?
Not every window tint meets our standards! The types of window tint available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This tends to be the least expensive product available to the market, it fades, bubbles, and normally goes a blue or purple colour in the end. Its really not great, and we don’t recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is regularly affected by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also disturb radio reception. This isn’t first class, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard tint. It is what we usually use at Vision Tints, as it provides great colour, its long lasting, does not get affected by heater lines and does not affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The most superior tint we can buy, offered as our premium service. It provides great colour/longevity, is not affected by heater lines, does not affect radio and provides the best temperature/UV protection.
All that being said, not all manufacturers of tint are the same, after many years in the industry, we have chosen what we believe is the best brand available, and even better, it’s manufactured in the UK, meaning when you hire our services you are actually supporting two UK businesses.
Do you offer mobile window tinting near me?
Yes! We are totally mobile and offer mobile window tinting in Gunnislake and all of Devon and some of Cornwall.
We can visit where you live or your place of work, meaning that you don’t need to loose your car and do not have to wait around for several hours for the job to be done.
