How it works
- You book a time slot and a location convenient to you.
- Our uniformed staff will arrive, only needing access to a powered plug socket.
- We then wash the car windows with 100% filtered water to eliminate any dirt or invisible debris before we tint them.
- We could need to remove door cards to access the workings of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- When the windows are tinted, we ask that you do not use the windows for at least 7 days so that they can completely dry, this safeguards the edge of the tint.
- We’re then able to receive payment by, card, bank transfer, or cash.
Which window tint shade is right for your car?
Choosing the best tint shade can be tricky. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Is the tint to make you car look great?
- Is it to protect children or animals from heat or UV rays?
- Do you want keep valuables out of sight?

Light tint – This is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but allowing for total visibility even in darkness.
Medium tint – This is the same as the factory provides for many cars, it offers shelter from UV rays, heat and does add some privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is the most widely selected, it provides a guard from heat, UV rays and gives absolute privacy.
Which car windows is it possible for us to tint?
We are often asked about this. Firstly, let’s explain how tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines how much of the light is allowed through. Therefore a 20% tint allows 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on each of the driver’s & the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the front windows have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Nearly all of cars the come from the factory today have tinted glass that is already at (or nearly) the 70-75% maximum. Although to some people this glass doesn’t look tinted, it actually is.
If you go ahead and have your front windows tinted the potential penalty will be (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the UK road network until you remove the extra tint.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, something else to think about is the insurance on your car. By illegally tinting the front windows of your car, you may nullify your insurance.
It’s also illegal to an illegally install tint to a vehicle’s front windows, with hefty fines and penalties. Vision Tints is a reliable, trustworthy & respected company that all clients rely on and as such we do not want to disobey the law. So we choose not to tint any front windows beyond the allowed limit.
We always test with a tint meter to ensure you are allowable when applying a tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you use?
Not all window tints meets our standards! The window tints available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This is often found be the cheapest tint available to the market, it fades, bubbles, and often goes a blue or purple colour in the end. It is quite poor, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is affected by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also interrupt radio reception. This is not a good option, and, will not last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard window tint. It is what we usually use at Vision Tints, as it gives a great colour, its long lasting, is not affected by heater lines & doesn’t affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The most superior tint available, provided as our premium service. It has the best longevity/colour, is not affected by heater lines, doesn’t affect radio and provides the best temperature/UV protection.
