- We then clean the car windows with 100% pure water to remove any dirt or microscopic debris previous to tinting them.
- We might need to detach the door cards to gain access to the workings of the window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- Once the windows have been tinted, we ask that you do not use the windows for at least a week to allow them to completely dry, this safeguards the edge of the tint.

Which car windows are we able to tint?
We are regularly asked this question. To start with, let us describe how tint is measured.
The percentage given for a tint defines the amount of light that is let through. Therefore a 20% tint allows 20% of light to pass through.
The allowed legal limit on each of the driver’s & the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the glass at the front have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Nearly all of cars made today have tinted glass that is almost at (or close to) the 70-75% limit. Although to some people this glass doesn’t seem to be tinted, in actual fact it is.

- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping your vehicle being used on the UK road network unless you remove the extra tint.
- A penalty notice and a court summons.
In addition, something else to consider is the insurance on your car. By illegally tinting the front windows of your car, you can invalidate your insurance.
It is also illegal to an illegally install tint to a cars front windows, with large fines and penalties. What type of tint do you use?
Not all window tints was created equal! The types of window tint available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This tends to be the cheapest tint available to the market, it fades, bubbles, and will likely go a blue or purple colour eventually. It isn’t good quality, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is damaged by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also interrupt radio reception. This isn’t a premium tint, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard window tint. We choose to use this at Vision Tints, as it provides great colour, longevity, does not get affected by heater lines & does not affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The finest tint money can buy, provided as our premium service. It provides great colour/longevity, is not affected by heater lines, won’t affect radio signal and gives the best temperature/UV protection.
