Our process
- You book an appropriate appointment time and place convenient to you.
- Our uniformed crew will arrive, only needing access to a power point.
- We then wash the vehicle windows with 100% pure water to clear away any dirt or invisible debris previous to tinting them.
- We could need to detach the door cards to gain access to the workings of the window. This is done to the highest possible professional standard.
- Once the windows have been tinted, we request you do not use the windows for around 7 days so that they can completely dry, this safeguards all the edges of the tint.
- We are then able to take payment by, cash, card, or bank transfer.
What window tint shade is the right choice for your vehicle?
Choosing the best tint shade can be tricky. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Would this tint be to make you car look great?
- Is it to look after children or animals from things like heat & UV rays?
- Do you want keep valuables out of view?
From your responses to these questions our qualified professionals can help you to choose the right shade. Below are the three main shades to choose from:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint giving protection from UV rays but allowing for full visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is a factory tinted look, it offers shelter from UV rays, heat and also adds a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most widely selected, it can safeguard from heat, UV rays and gives total privacy.
Which car windows are we able to tint?
We are asked this question many times. Firstly, let’s describe the way tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines how much of the light is let through. So, a 20% tint makes it possible for 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on each of the driver’s and the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Meaning the front windows have to let 70-75% of the light through any installed tint. Nearly all of cars produced today have tinted glass that is already at (or nearly) the 70-75% limit. Although to some this glass doesn’t seem to be tinted, it actually is.
If you go ahead and get your front window glass tinted the potential penalty will be (click this link for details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ stopping you using your vehicle on the road until you strip the tint from your vehicle.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, another factor to think about is the insurance on your car. By unlawfully tinting your front windows, you can invalidate your insurance.
It is also against the law to an illegally install tint to the front windows, with large fines and penalties. Vision Tints is a reliable, trustworthy & respected company that all customers rely on and as such we choose not to break the law. So we will not tint your front windows over the allowed limit.
We use a tint meter to make sure your car’s windows are correct when fitting any tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
What type of tint do you use?
Not every window tint meets our standards! The types of window tint available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This tends to be the cheapest product on the market, it fades, bubbles, and often goes a blue or purple colour in the end. Its really not great, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, which cause it to bubble. It can also interrupt radio reception. This isn’t a premium tint, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Top industry-standard window tint. It is what we usually use at Vision Tints, as it provides great colour, its long lasting, is not affected by heater lines and doesn’t affect the radio reception.
Ceramic
The greatest tint we can buy, offered as our premium service. It provides the best longevity/colour, is not affected by heater lines, doesn’t affect radio and gives the best temperature/UV protection.
