How it works
- You make a booking for a time slot and a location that suits you.
- Our uniformed staff will arrive, only requiring access to a powered plug socket.
- We then clean the car windows with 100% filtered water to remove any dirt or microscopic debris before we tint them.
- We may need to detach the door cards to access the complete window. This is done to the best professional standard.
- After the windows have been tinted, we believe its best that you don’t use the windows for around a week to allow them to dry fully, this preserves all the edges of the tint.
- We’re then able to accept payment by, bank transfer, cash, or card.
What window tint shade is right for your vehicle?
Selecting the right tint shade can be hard. Here are some things to ask yourself:
- Is the tint for style and looks?
- Is it to shield children or animals from things like heat & UV rays?
- Is it cover up valuables from sight?
Based on your responses to these questions our fully trained professionals are able to help you to pick the right shade. Here are the three main shades available:
Light tint – This is a subtle tint providing protection from UV rays but allowing for full visibility even at night.
Medium tint – This is a factory tinted look, it offers a safeguard from UV rays, heat and does add a little privacy.
Blackout tint – This tint is our most popular, it can safeguard from heat, UV rays and gives complete privacy.
Which car windows can we tint?
We are often asked about this. Firstly, let us explain the way tint is measured.
The percentage produced for a tint defines the amount of light that is allowed through. Therefore a 20% tint allows 20% of light to pass through.
The legal limit on both the driver’s and the front passenger’s window is 70%. The windscreen is 75%. Which means the glass at the front must let 70-75% of the light through. The vast majority of vehicles produced today have tinted glass that is almost at (or nearly) the 70-75% allowance. Although to some people it doesn’t seem to be tinted, in actual fact it is.
If you choose to have your front windows tinted this is the potential penalty (click here for more details):
- A ‘prohibition notice’ banning your vehicle being used on the UK road network until you remove the extra tint.
- A penalty notice and a summons by the court system.
Also, something else to think about is your car insurance. By illegally tinting your front windows, it’s possible to invalidate your insurance.
It’s also against the law to an illegally install tint to the front windows, with large penalties & fines. Vision Tints is a reliable, trustworthy & respected business that all clients rely on and as such we do not want to break the law. So we choose not to tint any front windows past the allowed limit.
We always test with a tint meter to ensure you are correct when installing any tint on front windows.
We will happily tint any rear windows as dark as you wish, as there is no legal limit on rear window tints.
Which of the available tints do you use?
Not all window tints was created equal! The window tints available are:
Dipped/Dyed Window
This is often found be the cheapest tint available to the market, it bubbles, fades, and normally goes a blue or purple colour in the end. It is quite poor, and we do not recommend it.
Metalized
This tint is also often very cheap. It is regularly damaged by the rear window heater lines, making it bubble. It can also interrupt radio reception. This isn’t a premium tint, and, won’t last.
Carbon or Charcoal
Premium industry-standard tint. We choose to use this at Vision Tints, as it gives a great colour, longevity, is not affected by heater lines and does not affect the radio signals.
Ceramic
The finest tint money can buy, offered as our premium service. It provides great colour/longevity, the heater lines do not affect it, won’t affect radio and provides the most UV/temperature protection.
Having said that, not all manufacturers of tint offer the same, after many years of experience, we have selected what we think is best brand available, and even better, it’s manufactured in the UK, which means that when you hire our services you are actually supporting two UK companies.
